I hate using anything like that to aid masturbation, it might feel better but it is far to much mess and hassle, I prefer just doing it dry and just dealing with the usual secretions, that way I also don't need to prepare etc. for it either and can do it impulsively and for undetermined amounts of time. I'd leave the better experience to when I have a partner.
