3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsIt's not really "trolling" per se, but the title had to fit. In my free time lately, I've been trying to get into html, coding, etc. Just teaching myself through looking through websites and using the "inspect element" tool. But I've found that you can actually change little things within the code that it shows you. The grey text that reads "What's on your mind?" in Facebook can be changed to say something else, as I've done in the example. Or the search bar on Google can be made unclickable. This may be common knowledge to some of you, and in that case, sorry. But I've only recently discovered it, thought it was pretty funny, and thought I'd share. You could easily prank pretty much anybody that leaves their computer open. It's quick, easy, and any damage is fixed with a simple page refresh.

I don't know, but either way, there's way too much for me to get in to
Sometimes it's pretty funny.Yeah.If you know at least the basics of HTML you can do many things.I haven't used it to prank my friends yet but I will sometime...
Did you mean something like this?
This won't work. I do the inspect element crap and inspect the text but I can't edit it.

Double click the text in the code.
If you want to delete quoted text..double click the line with the quoted bit then right-click and delete node.

There is, there are a lot of pre-made edits to the FB gray text, including the really popular pirate-themed one where it changes "people" to "swashbucklers" and other stupid shit like that. But yes, I think editing the gray text could be great if you had a good idea.

I couldn't do it in Firefox. I tried Chrome and I got it to work.

I downloaded an add-on for Firefox that lets me do more than what the regular inspect element thing does. The add-on is called Firebug.

Luckily the inspect element on Chrome already has the features. It is fun poking around through the site code to see how it is all put together.
