I honestly hate it. I've tried listening to several tracks and I even heard it at a dubstep show, it's so dull and just stupid.
It's basically hip-hop/rap with a mostly generic dubstep or EDM-style beat. It's sad because it's the "new" thing to the EDM scene, even though I don't think it should be considered EDM at all since it's basically just hip-hop/rap. It's becoming popular fast but the mainstream music taste is still hip-hop/rap so I guess it's only natural that the two are joining and it's all Diplo's fault.
I'm super disappointed though, most of the big names in dubstep are going trap right now. It's sad because most of these artists were the originators of dubstep, not the beginning original reggae dubstep granted, but what dubstep used to be. But it's sad because these influential and original producing dubstep artists followed what became popular in dubstep. They went from their own original sound to this generic "mainestream" dubstep sound and now they're going to trap.
hence, the genre is named for "It's a trap!" Named by the EDM community because it's not EDM and it's just hip-hop/rap
