It is a terrible place for art. When I first founs it, I thought it was a ln amateur "alternative" (goth, punk..) porno site and after looking around I realized it was a photography site focused mainly on self-shots.

Of course now I realize it is much more than this. The people who take the pictures of themselves also create a variety of original fan art.

I am not mocking it. This is what I honestly thought and still think.

DeviantArt is what you want it to be. I only use my account to hang out with people interested in illustration and painting, so from my perspective the site is a wonderful casual extension from the sites I already use. The "Groups" feature really does shine in this regard.
