I'm completely up for this. Is it going to be made into somekind of flash gallery and submitted at the end or are there going to be tags to be used in the art portal like in the old Friday Floods?

Not sure about the flash just yet, but we can certainly tag the submissions. I was thinking something simple like #DoArtNotDrugs?

Cool contest. What characters qualify as âEUoeNewground characterâEU? Can it be any character you find here on Newgrounds, or does it have to be a famous character in the NewgroundâEUTMs community? And in the second case; When exactly is a character well known enough?

It's sorta up to you to decided that. I'm not going to make some concrete list of which characters are "official" NG ones, but it should be pretty obvious which ones aren't and which ones aren't popular. Maybe your original character from your flash movies has been on NG before, but if no one has heard of him, it's kind of a moot point. And yeah, Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog are in a lot of flashes movies on here, but that doesn't make them NG characters. There are some generally accepted NG characters like the Tankmen, Pico, Bitey Salad Fingers, the Madness Guys, Strawberry Clock, etc.

What typically constitutes as an NG character is either a character that originated on NG, became famous on NG first but might be big elsewhere as well or is an NG mascot or sorts. There are lots of options, and people who don't go with the obvious right off the bat will typically get extra favor from judges for creativity.

Ok, great. IâEUTMm less than a month on Newgrounds, and I donâEUTMt know much about the mascots. The more reason to delve into it. Making a list would be too restricting on the artists indeed. There are a couple of characters from well viewed videos and games (exclusively) on here, that I like. IâEUTMll figure something out. Thanks.

Hey there, actually I think you are not the only user who asks himself this question and above that I think it doesn't hurt if we all get more inspiration on this.

First of all there is the "Series" section found under "Channels" that has a place for some of the most famous characters on NG. NOT ALL characters of those series qualify as "mascots" however, but it may help some of us remember a gem or two which we would otherwise not consider for this contest, who knows?

Then, I can highly recommend checking the NG Print Calendar threads from previous years, since hold a real treasure of great NG themed art. Here are the individual links (I hope I don't screw them up):
