100 Sit-up challenge for NG... 2012-08-31 10:54:04 Reply

So I've decided to see how many days it will take different body types to see results from doing a certain amount of sit-ups per day.

Do you want to join in this experiment?
1) What you do is take a picture of your nasty-ass belly,
2) Do 100 sit-ups every single day (if not all at once then through the day),
3) Post results after a week or so, don't forget to log days that had less or more than 100.

You could take part in this, or just watch others to see if it's really worth it.

I don't expect many people to be interested unless there's results to show.

Here's my stomach at 14 & 19. As you can clearly see; I once had regular & slightly visible abs, now my gut looks like a sad sack of hairy shit. I think that this experiment might show results.

When are we starting, Monday?

Tomorrow, 1st of September.

I know, but the larger they are the more visible they can be (depending on your level of fat). I've seen my six pack through the flab before when working out.

sure, you'll bulk up in ab muscle, but it'll be invisible under all that fat

also, 100 sit-ups a day?

working out the same muscle everyday is just going to burn them out and won't do you any good

This is an experiment on the abdominal muscles.

if you really want to get rid of that fat, go do some cardio, hit up a treadmill or something

I will get on that too, but it's not part of this experiment. I still eat like a king & drink like a bum.

I mentioned that you should also log days where you didn't reach 100, so breaks can be included. Recovery time is good.

Fat and muscle are two completely different substances. You may as well say you want to turn your ear into your heart.

Also my chest and the rest of my body is perfectly fine for the amount of fat it has, vertially none, could do with muscles, but frankly I like my current look and don't want a six pack or whatever.

That's absolutely not true. I've done 100 pushups/pullups a day before and it didn't do anything but make me sore and grow my muscles. I did sit ups too (not 100) and it seemed to help.

I can already do 100 in a row, 200 could be my max. I might try 300 or so to see how far I get.

the Marine Corps PFT requires 100 sit ups in under 2 minutes for a full score, many places online will show you how to perfect the form if anyone is interested.

No dead line, could be weeks, months, even years. I just want to measure from when someone starts to how many sit-ups it takes for results.

Take a picture of your belly before the program, then afterwards with a report at least once a week.

For All NGer's who are intrested in different crunch excercises.

I've been doing this new excercise I created for a year now which I like to call underwater Reverse crunches. which are alot harder than normal ones and help build some endurance.

To do them, you ahve to go near the edge of the pool, put both feet in the crunch position (your going to be upside down here) and pull yourself up against the water without your hands. This helps your balance, helps endurance and develops your core and abs much easier and faster than regular crunches.

After doing about 50, be sure to do some laps in the pool after.

I was actually wanting some confirmation in that. It will end up making you look fatter in the end.

Maybe I'll do the excersize bike routine like I normally do and THEN follow up with 100 sit-ups.

But at the same time doing it in excess daily burns the muscle too. Well, correction, it stops it from growing back as fast, which in turn waked it gain less over the same amount of time.

My torso as of today after 55 consecutive crunches and 55 bean bag sit ups. I hope by the end of September to AT LEAST have more defined abs cuz right now they are invisible.

Me and some buds also put together a Call of Duty work out plan which for those who don't know what that is; it's for everytime we die (online) is x10 push ups or sit-ups whichever we chose. It's a fun and healthy way to play, and it also discourages dying a lot because 20 deaths = 200 reps

this is stupid.

and let me explain why: if you honestly expect to get any results from doing 100 sit-ups per day, you have a very basic view of how abs work, you're a narcissist, and you're wasting other people's time. you will see little to no results doing that 'forward/backward' motion. you probably have no idea which row of abdominals you're working out by doing that either.
what about your inner/external obliques?
what about your TVA? that's absolutely vital.
lower abdominals?
DIETING?
you have no clue what you're doing here. also, inb4 "oh i don't care about actually getting a 'six-pack' or anything, this is just to see if anyone actually gets results from doing this, so stfu." no sir- YOU stfu.
you shoulda replaced '100-sit ups a day' with 'ab ripper x once a day', now THAT would've made for a pretty good topic.

If that's the case then you're probably doing them wrong; it's all about proper technique. The Marines require basically sit-ups, push-ups, pull ups as the most basic forms of exercise because if you can do those properly, you can do anything exercise wise
