Well, many of those -isms are justificable. I don't get why you feel bad about exorcisms. Anywhoo, it is the natural compulsion. Don't you worry about overpopulation - Gaia self-regulates. This is why we have homosexuals and the impotent and the mentally ill. I envy homosexuals, I really do. To be given this alternative life where they can't reproduce naturally, but still have sex and love is a treasure indeed.

I feel terrible that so many gay people like to have an egg donor or whatever, it seems like a great chance for adoption.

You should read the Origins of Species. Life is harsh and cruel, all life forms live in fear with every day as a desperate struggle of life and death, killing and devouring in the vain hope to make it through to the next day alive without becoming a meal for another creature. Their only hope to mate with others, spawning as many children as possible to hope that even a single one can survive long enough to mate and carry on their line in the future.

I feel as though a lot of people bring kids into the world for the wrong reasons, or no reason at all, or worse...by accident. I'm sure it's fun to talk about what kind of parent you'll be and what you'll teach your kids when you're young, naive and stupid (read: most teenagers). It takes growing the fuck up and certain experiences to fully understand that parenting is the complete antithesis of glamorous. Given the world we all live in now, no one should have kids, period, unless they are well off doctorate-level professionals (or maybe a big CEO) with stable relationships. I've seen and dealt with too many bad parents and it just kills me inside. Growing up in an unstable household really does have a big and negative impact on kids, and often leads to an untold number of other problems such as depression, tendency towards reckless or criminal behavior...you get the picture.

I know I'm not having kids. That much is certain. It'd take too much out of me in almost every single way, and I'm against reproduction for reproduction's sake. I'm good at a lot of things, but I don't want to be a father, grandfather, great-grandfather or beyond.

I used to have this misanthropic notion about the world that we're all just decaying waste laying on the side of the Cosmic Sidewalk waiting for our inevitable destruction. Then again, I was also enjoying a big House M.D. kick when it was rolling Season 4 and watching a lot of Carl Sagan's Cosmos. So, one could say I was impressionable.
