Welcome! This is the Open Round thread for the Nooni Media Animation Extravaganza!

The Open Round theme is "The Hidden Door".

You have until it becomes 10 September EST to finish your entry and submit it to Newgrounds. Countdown to said date here.

RULES

Entries have to fit the above theme so that everyone is on an equal footing.
Animations must be at least 1 minute long, but no longer than 8 minutes.
Entries must be submitted on Newgrounds, most preferably in SWF format.
Anything that would give the animation a âEUoeMatureâEU or âEUoeAdultâEU rating is not allowed. (i.e. no excess nudity, profanity, etc.)
No copyrighted material can be used without permission. To use any copyrighted material (eg. music) in your entry, you must first get the permission from the creator of the material.
Due to the âEUoeno copyright materialâEU nature of the competition, you must use parody names instead of real names when it comes to brands, etc. (Eg. sandwich-eater's great example of âEUoe11-UpâEU in place of âEUoe7-UpâEU in the Newgrounds TOFA 2011)
You will be disqualified from the competition if your entry breaks any of the above rules.

Submit your entry to Newgrounds before the deadline and provide a link to it in the Open Round thread. If submitting to the portal, please tag entries with âEUoeNMAE-OpenâEU. (But dump entries are acceptable)

LATE PENALTIES

If your entry is under half an hour late, you will have 5% deducted from your final score.
If your entry is over half an hour late, but under one hour late, you will have 10% deducted from your final score.
If your entry is between 1 hour and 5 hours late, you will have 20% deducted from your final score.
If your entry is over 5 hours late, you are... sadly disqualified.

NOTES

By submitting an entry to this competition, you agree to allow the organisers to use your material to promote the contest and display your work on the Nooni Media site.
All entrants must have a PayPal account in order to claim the final prize.

This is a bit of a "tug-at-shirt-collar" moment!
Have contacted some mods, will postpone the competition a little if thread is locked, theme will remain the same.
Enjoy extra time due to my incredible ineptitude!

Okay, have discussed it with ReNaeNae - have to wait until the 20th for Tom to approve due to the amount of prize money. Calendar will be updated after that. Do keep creating entries - regardless of what happens, you'll get something out of it, I'm sure.

Oh, and I've decided to use judges from Newgrounds instead. Be warned though, they might be harsher than those originally planned...

I don't get what's so significant about the 20th and the prize money.
I'll lock this thread, and it can be unlocked when Tom gives it approval.
