ChOW #53 -18th century superhero/vigilante

For anyone that doesn't know what ChOW is, it stands for character of the week and it is a weekly art competition. There are no physical prizes it is just for fun and practice (and fame and glory). Anyone and everyone no matter of your skill level can participate...

This weeks theme, 18th century superhero/vigilante, was suggested by idiot-monarch. Design a superhero or a vigilante that would have existed in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/18th_century

Rules:
- Humanoid creatures only
- Follow the topic (loosely if you want)
- Original characters only
- No old stuff... make new art!
- Put effort in!
- Have fun!

I guess this'll do. Hopefully I won't get socked with overtime hours this week.

Not terrible so far, I can already see that I'm gonna get my ass kicked though. Debating if I'm actually going to take the time to look over my books when I move on to the background though.

Hmm... I think we should stick to the topic so everyone is doing the same thing. We will have a villain theme soon tho, maybe :D

Well then it's a good thing I drew a vigilante. A vigilante who I have no name for and who I will probably never clean up/color unless I get bored before the due date.

The only story for him I really have is he goes all Nightwing and beats some ass with metal poles.

Maybe, but I don't see it. At rest your fingertips are a bit past your pelvis, it looks fine to me.

that's not correct... ur finger tips are about mid thigh at rest... but I'm not even talking about true human anatomy. I'm talking about your drawing :D

You could just color sample the background and use the soft brush to softly mix that color into the character to make him stand out less a little. You could also try to make him a little less saturated on his yellow gold wears if you don't want those parts to stand out also.

Well, I guess I might as well look through my books to get an idea for the background. Don't know how much more I'll actually do on the character though.

Yeah... I realized that after I made the thread :D

Dunno if I'm gonna end up finishing this. I can never manage to find the motivation to finish any paintings without lineart...

Maybe go over him with a low opacity white brush?

I think I got it. I did a screen over the color that's blue. Painting realism is too hard...

the mask doesn't really fit the rest of the image....but i love the whole thing
