This guy seems really interesting. U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district. Born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin. Likes hunting, gaming and spending time with family. Used to drive the Oscar Meyer Weiner. This guy seems like he'd make a good president if he was running.

So just because he likes hunting, gaming, spending time with his family and driving the Oscar Meyer Weiner he would make a good President?

He also enjoys making large cuts and changes to Medicare and Social Security, giving enormous tax breaks to the wealthy, and taking long walks on the beach.

I respectfully disagree. There's a right way and a wrong way to go about this.
Yes, entitlement programs in the U.S. are in need of reform, but Ryan's plan sounds scary. Admittedly, I don't know all too much about it, but many Independents and moderate voters do, and many will be scared off by Ryan. Of course, some will be attracted to this and Romney's VP pic will certainly fire up the Republican base.
I'd say it's a huge gamble that may not pay off.

Not if you want to win an election where 70 or so percent of the electorate is dead set against ANY cuts in Medicare or Social Security. That's just reality.

Why? Why should we stop with Social Security, which could (with very slight changes) be profitable, let alone revenue neutral? Why should we stop Medicare?

Why stop at anything? Why do we need to be compassionate and provide ANY civil service?
well we could give everyone guns which allows them to rob people at gun point, or we can let everyone vote their way into each other's wallets. We can also give ourselves the right to vote our way into other countries so we can kill them with guns and take their shit to.
dah nvm, paul ryan is probably in favour of that last part.

at his age I was a little commie bastard, now I'm borderline Randroid. no I think its understandable that it takes a bit of time to fully understand everything, its not just about knowing the facts, its about knowing how to decide your position on issues.

what's there to know? do the research on both sides of the argument, and come to a decision. repeat this until you have no more issues to decide on

I'm not saying I don't know anything about politics because I do. I really do care who's in office, I do care about the citizens of America, and I do care about our jobs being sent to other countries when we need them ourselves, it effects me as it does everyone else. I was just starting the topic to get other peoples opinions on the subject. Please don't critisise me
Personally, I hate both Romney and Obama, and I rather see Ron Paul in office, I'm not going to go into detail. I'm a Republican and even I hate what Romney is doing.
Want my personal opinon on Paul Ryan?: He's stuck up. People want to make if any changes to health-care at all is none. But he wants to make a BIG change that will effect citizens in long-term bad way.
I know some politics but most of them isn't in my interest. And yes I really DO care.

Well that's fine but it would have made more sense to go into detail about why you like or don't like his policies, seeing many presidents were good people in person just not good politicians (like say Jimmy Carter or Harding).

They are, it's just they first attack the Republicans then compliment themselves.

Show me that ad, because I haven't seen it. The only ad I've seen is where Obama talks about how Romney's plan will not work and that its your decision that will decide the outcome of the election

Right wingers would naturally say that the democratic party's accomplishments were done by American citizens unassociated with the Democratic party. Weren't you paying attention to news media these last four years?
Unemployment goes down since Obama's election? Osama taken down? Don't Ask Don't Tell repealed? The Obama Administration had absolutely no part in it.
Like it even matters who was running the show. Governments are supposed to be a collective and cooperative effort. Of COURSE one guy can't fix all the problems, that's the point of the damned Union.
I usually frequent the VG and collaboration Forums. If you find me anywhere else, I'm lost and can't find my way back.

well in a two party government where neither party does any good, they really have nothing else to put in their ads other than all the bad that the other guys are doing, while leaving out everything that they have done, because they haven't done any good themselves.

There's multiple, I can't find the one that aired over here about Bain Capital but I found one even better.

So when the Democrats are better at making attack ads than Republicans, they're dirty naysayers running on zero substance, right?
You seem to be buying into Karl Rove's strategy: attack the Dem's strengths, not weaknesses. Why can't they just be positive?

there's a reason why you don't see any ads touting obama's accomplishments, including his "accomplishment" for winning the Nobel Peace Prize for being a black american president.
this election cycle is going to boil down to 2 kids shouting at each other over who gets the last scoop of ice cream.
the presidential debates should be fun... I wonder if they'll let Obama have his teleprompter and give him the questions ahead of time?

Yeah, because last time when he completely mangled McCain in all 3 debates, I'm sure it had everything to do with that invisible teleprompter he had with him.

Right, I'm sure the fact that Obama is an extremely charismatic and personable president has everything to do with a teleprompter.

i don't know man
michelle obama is actually fairly attractive
she's much more attractive than most first ladies have been, with the possible exception of jackie kennedy, and even then, i think michelle beats her in that area, since jackie's eyes were like 10 inches apart
