4.14 / 5.00 17,149 ViewsAttention artists! Don't miss Comic Jam 3, the weekend of August 24th!
Clock Day is Wednesday, August 15! There is prize and preloader info on the Clock Day 2012 page.
Stencyl Jam 2012 was simply amazing, with tons of great games joining the competition. We ended up with a really solid top four and expanded the prize pool as a result. Here's the final order:
1st - $500 - A Tale of Colours
Explore the land, find treasures, and discover the Gnome Legends!
An ambitious Metroidvania platformer that oozes charm and heart, with expansive levels, coin challenges and numerous upgrades. The controls can make platforming tricky and horizontal momentum sometimes causes you to overjump your goal but it's worth sticking with it and earning the double jump. From there it just gets cooler and cooler.
2nd - $400 - Reaching Finality
Embark on a journey to reach the afterlife
It's crazy how after years without many Zelda-style Flash games, we get Seedling and Reaching Finality in the same month. An epic adventure and another great showcase of what is possible with Stencyl. We were torn between which game should be 1st but A Tale of Colours managed to win by a hair.
3rd - $300 - 100% Complete
Can you find all 50 secrets?
Fiendishly clever and tons of fun, 100% Complete won the audience vote and was the most popular of the Stencyl Jam entries. Once you start unraveling the secrets it's really hard to stop.
4th - $200 - Tanooky Tracks
Tanooky Tracks is an original point 'n click game with lots of puzzling goodness!
Some of the most beautiful art of ANY web game, with great puzzles to boot! Tanooky Tracks already existed as a game but the developers remade it with Stencyl to demonstrate the power of the platform.
Congrats to the winners and thank you everyone who participated! We'll continue to front page more of the remaining entries and are planning another Stencyl competition for the launch of Stencyl 3.0!
If you're interested in game development, whether you know how to program or not, read up on Stencyl and see if you might be interested in giving it a shot.
Here are some more great Stencyl Jam entries:
Short little platformer about a failed teleporter & robots!
Relaxing adventure under the full Moon
A shmup about a ghost who fights randomly generated enemies.
Erline must save Aurla before the end
Can a bigger falling star make a bigger wish come true?
Fire clone-spawning projectiles, solve puzzles and escape Omikhron-9!
A vertical speedrun platformer featuring the random giggling guy.
An atmospheric puzzle platformer. Find your void.
Help Otto Von Steamingberg to grab the treasure in this steampunk puzzler!
The entire list is available in the Stencyl Jam 2012 collection.
I'll be checking in sporadically until Monday, August 20th. If anything urgent comes up, PM Wade.

Nice! Congrats everybody.
Reaching Finality looks amazing. I need to find some time to play through that.
Now, if only the NG store was fixed so I could buy a really cool T-shirt.....
Robots! Aliens! Upgrades! #1 game of Robot Day 2012! S.R.A.G. Resurrection
Congrats to the winners! There were some truly amazing games in this jam, it was considerably better than the stuff earlier in the year imo.

original I am.
Congratulations to the winners!
I thoroughly enjoyed the games I got around to playing.
Especially 100% Complete :3
When life gives you lemons...squirt juice in your enemy's eyes!
Not very important but my lastfm. Click on it if you want...doesn't really matter to me. Not like anyone would.
Congrats to the winners! it was fun. till the next jam
First place is well deserved; it's my favorite game out of all the entries I played. I wish I hadn't rushed my entry to make it in time for Robot Day, but I won't be making that mistake for the next game jam. I also hope the duration for the next game jam isn't so long, maybe just a month as opposed to three months.

Wow, I didn't expect to do so well with a game made in two weeks! Thanks to all the people who played the game and all the judges. This is really motivating; I was completely burned out from working so hard on the game, but I suddenly feel like jumping right into another project.

So Clock Day is August 15th? Sorry, Tom, I go back to school on Wednesday. I don't think I'll be able to see this event. Plus, the only time I can use my computer is on Saturdays and Sundays { weekends }. I go to Rocky Bayou Christian School, so I hope to see you on the 18th. That's my mom's birthday.
Congratualions to the winners! The games are really awesome :D
Congratulations to the winners and participants! It was a really fun jam.
