If your child was a teenager and got pregnant or got someone else pregnant what would you do?

I was just thinking about it because at my school there has been a surge of teen pregnancies. Seriously out of a school of 1,000 children it seems like 30 of them are pregnant right now. Sometimes it seems like people don't even try to prevent the problem and think that pulling out works.

I don't really know what I would do if my child got in that situation. I would leave the choice up to them, but make it clear if they wanted an abortion I would not give a fuck. They would be allowed to graduate high school, but if they want to go to college they can do that on their own time. You graduate and get a job and then go on your way. Signed up for one kid and not generations of them in my house.

Why do you wonder about these things Cootie? None of us without children cannot know what we would do in that situation. Having a child changes you, there is a literal shift in your life, in your priorities, everything changes. So no I don't know what I would do because I am not a parent and I can only imagine that bond I'd feel for my child without knowing it for sure.

I wouldn't really care. I would talk to her about it and about abortion. But if she was keen on keeping the baby, I'd let her. But she would have to take care of everything herself. If you're old enough to have a baby, you're old enough to take care of it yourself as well.

Thankfully my daughter has passed her teen years now, she turned 23 last month, but even so if she got preggers when she was a teen I would have helped her and her partner in whatever way I could emotionally and financially (had it been necessary). Damn! I would enjoy every freaking minute of it. I can't wait to be a Grandfather. I'm hoping it will happen in the next couple of years.

I'm not sure. I'd like to think I'd discuss it with my child calmly and we'd come to a conclusion that both kids will be happy with but I'll probably be really pissed the whole time. You never really know what you'd do until it actually happens.

I honestly have no idea.

I guess I'd tell her that she was free to have an abortion, but I wasn't going to pay for it, and she was free to keep the baby, but I was only going to help out with that a little bit.

Of course I'd let her stay home and finish highschool, but whatever money I gave to pay for the baby (if she kept it), I would take out of her college fund.

I never really thought about this.

I would probably be very upset and would feel like a failed parent. I don't like the idea of abortion or adoption as I want to keep the baby in the family. So hopefully my mom would be open to caring for the child until my son or daughter would be ready to take care of it.
