The winners of the Industrial sounds Audio Contest have been announced! Here's a quick look at 1st - 3rd:

The August contest is Voice Acting Ravers.

Entries for the Master Round of the Newgrounds Annual Tournament of Animation are coming in today and winners will be announced next week.

The Stencyl Jam has also come to a close so expect winners to be announced next week as well! A ton of great games participated in this competition. If you've been curious to try out Stencyl (game development that doesn't require a programming background), these games will help demonstrate what's possible. Also see the main Stencyl collection.

Sorry for the downtime yesterday but our database servers are happier as a result.

It's been a rough couple months but here is where things stand now:

liljim is rewriting some legacy cron scripts (nightly site maintenance) to improve performance.

PsychoGoldfish is back from vacation (and a game-dev break) and is working on project unpublishing.

Rob is all settled in at his new place in San Fran and is refactoring the store to resolve some issues.

We've basically lost two months of "exciting" development progress but things are getting back on track and happiness should be on the way.

Other updates:

1) Still aware of the Treasure Hunt.
2) Still aware of the Annual Awards. Can't afford to forge new trophies and it puts me in a funk. This will be resolved this year.

Check your account page to see if you're on the panel to pick the Best of July!

Does this include deleting songs? Because the amount of threads on the Audio Forum about being unable to do that is killing meh! D:

Good to see the audio contest results for the industrial music! Waterflame tends to win a bunch of these contests he's in, he really is a very talented composer. And I'm a little confused as to what's meant by project unpublishing but Liquid seems to have answered my question a bit.

We have done that at times over the years, although not recently. Worth considering at some point to clean house a bit.

How about deleting any submission that gets down to a score of 1.00 or less? If the blam score while Under Judgement is 1.50, then why is it fair to have such low scoring items on here just cuz they managed to pass judgement before they tanked? It would also improve the quality of the material on this site. I really concerns me to see what has passed and what's is floating around this site. Examples? :D Hell yeah:

Nope. Don't want. I've got too much on here already. But it's more than that. If I'm having troubles with it (and have been since redesign), other users, including new users, would be having the same problems. I've been around here long enough to know when something's really broken, or just being quirky. But someone who just found the site might think it's all broken and not hang around. New users are vital to site growth, image, and reputation, so it's important that it work right for everyone.

Also, I've also seen reviews where the reviewer says they only get a black screen and it doesn't work, and they reate a 0. The preloaders haven't been working since the redesign, either. they put up a black page until the flash is loaded. I understand that, but that reviewer didn't, and the flash was rated unfairly because of it.

This is what they see while it loads, then it's ready to play, with no loader bar as it loads:

Same. Really annoying. I was on the panel last month, too. Also, I still can't submit to the dump or change my profile pic. Really interfering with this collab i'm in.

That's most probably IE8 jerking up, at least upgrade to 9. IE8 and lower is a pain on the dev side, most of the time you have to add specific instructions for IE to make it work.

Well, you do have to consider games that were okay-ish (around 2 or more) and then over the course of time before the redesign, they were downvoted such that they had a score below 1.00. What about that? How do you "judge" it in that case?

Everything worked in IE8 before the redesign. I looked into IE9 and it's for Vista and higher.

Easy. Good games don't get down voted. If something is being down voted, then the game is either offensive in some way, or it's not good enough to be voted up. After all, if people vote high because a submission deserves it, then no amount of down voting is going to affect it, right? And remember, we're talking about a score of 1.00, not 3.50. GOOD things DON'T get to a score of 1.00, right? Just cuz something works does not mean it's entertaining, good, or guaranteed to be on the site forever.
