Promoting your own/your favorite LP

Hey There guys, I'm just here trying to promote my own LP while also wanting discussion of your own, or your favorite Let's Players. We can check each others videos out and find some new things to watch and subscribe to!

This is me and my good friend, we are dual commentating while I play a game.
He basically makes fun of me a lot, but I believe me and him have a good give-and-take and it goes pretty well.
unfortunately in the first couple videos my audio is just a tad low, but I've corrected that since and I can be heard crystal clear now!
What me and my friend are doing isn't groundbreaking, but its different from your run-of-the-mill LP's and its worth a check out.

Just watched DepressingDrawers' LP of Postal 2. Found his thread over on the SA forums and enjoyed each video. He has a very amusing commentary style, highly recommend it. He also just started a LP of Tresspasser which is shaping up to be just as funny

It's helpful if your first post here isn't your own promotion. Maybe if you had a good rapport with other users here you wouldn't take so much flak.

To be honest, I'm not worried about flak from other users, I'm not trying to do something totally different either, as stated in my original post. I know posting here on NG will automatically get hate from people because, to be honest, this community has been overrun by dicks, but as usual, you gotta weed through the crap to get to some honest users that actually care about LP's and their own projects.
It's regrettable that several of you seem to have some negative feelings towards myself, but let me ask you a question, have you checked out my videos yet? If you don't want to, that's fine, but its very easy to criticize when ignorance is your battle plan.

I don't mind promoting other LP'ers though!

Definitely above average. You get points for having two people; that always makes a let's play more interesting. I'm not going to subscribe because I'm already subscribed to GameGrumps, which is more entertaining than this and takes up a lot of my time already because I don't miss a second of it, but good luck with finding viewers. It'll be hard with the many other LPers out there.

It's weird that I like GameGrumps so much because it's pretty much two dudes laughing the whole time, but I like seeing the games they're playing and I've been a fan of JonTron and Egoraptor for a long time.

I appreciate the honesty and the feedback. I haven't checked out Gamegrumps just yet, simply because Ive got such a backlog of Pcull and AVGN videos to watch, as well as editing my own stuff that I just dont have the time yet.

Sorry, I gave you the short version... which you're pretty much run-of-the-mill. However you're not doing too bad from just a small start, everybody has to start somewhere. What you have to keep in mind though is there are 100's of Let's Players out there and some people who get into doing Let's Plays just to gain some extra views through their YouTube channels, because let's be honest, the video game community has pretty much hijacked the Internet. So you gotta have either a nice gimmick to work with or you have to have that "It' Factor.

With chuggaaconroy, his gimmick was shitty luck and the It Factor that he leaves is giving his viewers history and trivia about the different games he plays. Also he has dedication, he puts a good deal of effort into his videos doesn't sound like much in the Let's Play world, but compared to others, yeah he does put effort into them. Whether you think he's funny or not, the quality is what stands out and that's something that nobody can deny.

So like I said you're off to a nice start, but you gotta work at it harder. Keep in mind Jon Tron (part of GameGrumps) started off with just a small review show, he even has a Newgrounds account which he pleaded people here to watch his show. Now he's doing Let's Plays with Egoraptor.

Thats a much better response and incredible advice. Everything you said rings true, and I suppose me and my bro will keep doing LP's until we find out what our "gimmick" is. We've been discussing various other things we can do in our LP's that would be different and fun, but our first LP is much more of a testing-the-waters to see if we enjoy this and we have the knack for it.

I believe strongly that my bro and I have the knack; we have a good give-and-take between us. It's now all about persistence, refinement and a whole lotta luck.

Honestly I dunno if you count them as lets players, but jontron and two best friends play are my favorites. If you don't count them peanutbuttergamer just started a new game series called minecraft hardcore which includes jontron, the completionist and 5 other people, including PBG. It's actually a really fun lets play series.

I appreciate that! Yeah I had mentioned my voice was low because of the shitty audio program I was using but my later videos are of a much better quality.

I find it sad people are al lgoing on about the GameGrumps channel, after the initial "hugh this seems ok" period I never went back to it, it was utterly boring and bland, which for 2 people is very sad since usually dual commentary is enjoyable.

As for the ones I enjoy, Kikoskia is my favourite LPer, DeceasedCrab is also fun and HCBailley can be entertaining. All of those are good while at the same time NOT being overly loud and irritating like Chuggaconroy and NintendoCapriSun etc. who I am barely able to sit though a single episode without wanting to mute them.

As for dual commentary, points definitely go to Switcher (Two best Friends), they can show that being loud at times isn't ALWAYS a bad thing, as they actually do dual commentary well and aren't annoying. If anyone wants to bring up GameGrumps again just go watch them instead, Switcher is blatantly better and far more enjoyable,considering I actually go "yay new video" rather than ignoring them.

As for my LP, it is linked in my signature RagnarokiaNG, I should bother to do more videos but atm I'm sorting out a dual commentary thing with a friend which we are planning on doing soonish instead which would be more interesting.

I'm sorry I don't fit your edgy and sophisticated needs, kind sir.
But anyone worth their sauce needs some kind of promotion. I can't spam your T.V with commercials it seems, so forums and word of mouth through circles of friends is what I CAN do.
So, please, by all means, give me some constructive criticism on how I can approve and appeal to a wider audience like yourself. Otherwise, if you're looking to hate on me for the sake of just hate, then I applaud your efforts because you actually got me to respond.
