i don't get how to use gimp? I was able to resize my pics but now there .xcf format and can't upload em cuz now there not or .jpg/PNG/gif...

I think the primary save for gimp is .xcf, just like photoshop's primary save is a .psd
You can save it though as a different file type, like one of those, though.

When you save. Instead of using the automated formats they give you. Simply just type in.
