The tree appears to be looking at the viewer, not at the apple.
You need to fix that.

Ty, ill see what I can do, but I´d like to keep this face style and I think thats hard while doing the thingy u just did. but ill give it a go
new pic.
not finished, I need to work on the shading. the whole undercarriage needs work. yet I would like some input now I am still working on it. in general, or specific.
I am aware that the side of the tank is boring/ plain. I may add some thingies, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
I'd also like to add some mudd, I dont really know how though? any tips on that?

i think he was trying to show you where to place the eyes in order to make it look as if the tree wasn't looking directly at the viewer, no need to change the face style.
like this:
when life gives you lemons

thanks for this. I did try to come up with something new after your earlier post (i didnt ignore your post), but it didnt work for me then. I also tried to replace the eyes, like you just did.
I am doubting though, its an easy change, and yours absolutely looks at the apple instead of the viewer, but I am not sure which I like better. Yours does give a little bit more depth. But the face style loans itself more for a straight view imho. Also the image is very flat, and maybe it creates relatively, to much depth??
anyway, thanks a bunch, really helpfull.
now how about the tank? :P
Lost my file due to crash, didnt save for a long period apparently. luckily I had my .png file, but many layers are gone
starting to get finished, still hoping on some critique

The underside of the carriage is at the wrong angle. You have it completely parallel to the ground, whereas it should be parallel with the rest of the tank.

yes the tank is a little tilted, like the NG tank. I like it this way and its intentional. thanks though
for those lurking, I have two issues marked. The bolts look a bit distorted I think, and I am not sure if the mudguard is right this way.. since the left one is sticking out a bit.
At 9/21/12 09:48 AM, Tomsan wrote: yes the tank is a little tilted, like the NG tank. I like it this way and its intentional. thanks though
omgosh! that's adorable! (probably not the word you were looking for, sorry! :P)
Even if the tilting is intentional, the perspective and angles are inconsistent. I tried to 'red line' it, but it was a mess and confusing! Do you ever go into the stickam room? Might be easier to explain it out loud.
I really like the dents and 'bubbliness' of it ...probably my favorite piece of yours so far! :D

thanks a bunch, and no I dont have a stickcam account. I see you guys talking about it sometimes so I might sign up.
I think the biggest issue is the right lining of the lower front plate (the one with the bolts/screws). that right lining makes it look like its tilted towards the viewer messing up the whole pic. I am working on it, but like I said I lost the original file with all the layers so its a hassle for me.
btw lining up was hard for me since I dont know how (or if) I can draw reference lines that arent completely horinzontal or vertical. I mean there were several moments I wanted to place 2 (diagonal) reference lines that had the same angle, but I wasnt able to. is this possible in photoshop? all I know are the "rulers" lines I can place (only horizontal and vertical) and the "grid" function. Often enough I use the grid to count the number of vertical steps relative to the number of horizontal steps taken by a certain line as to make a corresponding line somewhere else, it feels (and probably is) stupid.
I think (and hope) that besides that front armor plate the perspective isnt too retarded, it might also be partially caused because of the encircled mudguard issue making it look even weirder. that to I will try to fix.
and.... adorable is close enough, I was going for a mix of cute slash tough style. like this
I added a little tankman for reference it wont stay there

on the far side, the mudguard looks like it's behind the front plate...while the closer one is in front of it. They should match. You also have some perfectly horizontal lines... and then some that aren't. Either have them all horz or go to a common vanishing point. I guess I don't know which view you were going for since they're kind of all over the place! Angled green) lines will give it more depth than keeping everything perfectly horizontal. Watch your circles too.
reference lines that arent completely horinzontal or vertical... is this possible in photoshop?
With the pencil/brush selected, click once where you want the line to start, then press the shift key. and click again where you want it to end. You should get a straight line from click A to click B. You can keep holding shift and clicking to get continuous straight lines. Let go of shift to stop.
I hope at least some of that made sense!

OMG! i was working on this small change for so frikking long it started to get very annoying. instead of pushing the mudguard back I wanted to get the other one more in the front. I tried and tried and tried and i couldnt figure out what to do. I then realized it was probably impossible because the (right) front mudguard and the beam werent really correct. The lines of that 'situation' there coudnt really be made from another angle. I then realized your idea was better.
But I didnt gave up! I tried some more and after, what seemed to be ages, I kinda got it right. I know its far from perfect, but I really cant do better then this atm.
I also changed a lot of other lines and worked on the wheels (front one looks much better now). Also I had to relocate the whole gun.
I will brush up some more details, but then I am calling this finished. Ill show the end result later on
thanks ReNaeNae, I appreciate it. it definitely made sense
sigh of relief

He really doesn't fit in with the tank, maybe you should draw tankman by yourself.

This abomination is my first (and maybe only) attempt at creating an anime chick. To see what all the fuzz is about.
I had fun doing it, especially since it came out pretty funny. fitting description of a friend on this piece "damn she fugly"
I am an ass man and as such the pose was clear pretty fast, 'butt' her ass came out a bit more bubbly then I intended.
I might work on her ugly face some more, but wanted to show the progress. everytime I look at her I crack up, she looks ridiculous lol.
not a very bad first attempt though imo
dat ass

Never do this again. You have defied laws I didn't even know existed.
You were doing fine without anime. Keep on drawing and finding an individual style.
A rather disgusting-looking git that should have been disposed of ages ago.

Hahahaha, oke will do. Dont u think shes hot?

Only if by hot you mean that she has the ability to melt people's faces off as per the end of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

quick drawing, started out playing a bit with shapes and it turned into this.
dont mind the background its just thrown in there.
ideas and comments are welcome

some small add ons. pic is done. not really happy with it but it wasnt much work so F it.
I have some issues apparently with making a pic a little more dynamic. theyre all so 'still'. I understand that in this case atleast it has a lot to do with the pose, being very passive, but I find it difficult in general to make a picture a bit more lively.
portret of my cats, Moby (left) and Mira. Brother and sister.
Kinda like how this turned out.
Not sure yet what to do with the background, any ideas?

You could turn that red-ish blob thing into a decorative cusion/pillow and change that blue in the background into nice indoor wax wooden floors or something like that.

hmm I like the idea about the wooden floor, will do that.
and the redish is already the shape of a 'soft' pillow, that was my idea as well. But I am not so sure about the colors. Moby is very light, while mira is very dark, its difficult to pick a color that goes best in the background.

Well I saw this one technique where you can make an easier color palette for yourself by taking a photo, picture, or screencap that you like and use a filter to turn it into a color palette. I've never done it for myself yet, but you can go about the background like so.
Plus if you carefully layer the cats properly then you can control their colors in photoshop to fit with the background.
Any further adjustments is up to you.
