It incited spam more than anything, as of late.

While it used to be an award to showcase something that passed the portal by miracle, and is most likely so bad it's funny.

As it was said before, many spammers were competing for it. They would produce nothing, but spam flashes until they got the turd of the week. Personally, I'm glad it's gone now we won't have a stupid "competition" for shittiest flash of the week.

As of late? Our signup dates aren't too far apart. Ever since I began to actually look at which flash won which award, I noticed Turd of the Week was always awarded to spam flash works. Or maybe you forgot the Star Syndicate.
