well.... the black lines on his pants don't really go with the rest of the image. maybe a darker blue color would look better....??

He did say it was for his webseries so he probably means he copyrighted the character design
I agree the thick lines in the pants are really distracting, if you do what somone suggested and tone them down as simply shadows and not outlines it might work.

IF this is the background youre gonna use I would give it a small stroke, just to avoid the blending of the hair and shirt. I too agree with the pants lines comments, and I would try to do something about the shoes.

^This, or maybe just use a darker blue instead of black for the lines. It will probably still look out of place, but it's worth a shot. :S
