Extremely new, a bit confused. 2012-07-25 16:35:23 Reply

I'm extremely new here, actually just joined not minutes before writing this post, and I'm already just a bit confused. Well, not confused, but more so saddened? I am new at animation, and very much a beginner so please forgive me if this is a problem that's received a lot or easily fixed.
I do er.. more 'traditional' animation, meaning I liked to draw out every frame, I've learned my ones and twos, and the XSheet is still somewhat of a mystery to me. I use TVPAINT Animation Pro. I think it is the best program for my kind of work, but the problem is uploading to here. When I try to export, it doesn't give me a video option acceptable for this site, is there any way I could possible export it to a different program without losing frames to convert it into an acceptable format for this? Any and all help is very much appreciated- .

It lets it out in just about any format that I can think of, except for MKV. I'll list.
AVI, BMP, CINEON, DEEP, DPX, FLI, FLYER, GIF, ILBM, GIF, PCX, PNG, PSD, QUICKTIME, RTV, SGI, SOFTIMAGE, SUNRASTER, TGA, TIFF, VPB.
I've only used a few of these before and can't begin to imagine what the rest might apply to, but those are the options I'm given when choosing a format to export in. Is there maybe one I could use out of those options?

Well if you want to upload animations to here just get a free converter and convert your avi's to swf and upload away.

The only thing I'm worried about in that situation is losing frames, I've heard that any conversion of video causes frame-loss. I'm not sure how exact that is, but still it does make me worry.
Do you have any suggestions on converters to use?
If not, thank you anyway!

I am creating a frame by frame animation also and I am also worried about degrading my video by converting to swf. I heard you can actually submit another format besides a SWF. You must contact Tom Fulp (The site owner) first. I believe these movies were "not" submitted as a swf. Starbarians http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/593843, Lucky Day Forever http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/596083. It has to be quality work though.

Currently doing short rough animations here http://khanhcpham.deviantart.com/

Thanks for the advice, and those are very nice videos. I'll hold off a bit on contacting the site owner, though. I want to make sure my work is presentable enough to be showed and worthy of the matter - . One day !

Message TomFulp he's the owner of this site and he will let you upload as a video if you ask him, probably.
He let me for my first video a few weeks ago.
And yeah frame by frame animation is the best! :D

you need an swf file (shock wave flash) to upload. you will need a copy of flash, I use flash 8 professional.
