I don't think it is, but it said he ended up admitting his guilt to doing it AFTER the test said he was lying. Polygraph tests may not count, but admitting to the crime does.

He admitted his "guilt" after the polygraph examiner told him he was lying. (He was still taking a polygraph test) He could be an unstable person that admitted guilt under pressure. The article said one of the areas damaged was the torpedo room. I'm sure they had all weapons removed before it went to dry dock. If not that would've been the first sub to be destroyed on land.
