I wonder if what just happened will cause anyone to NOT go to the theater to see movies for awhile or will people realize it was isolated and continue to go enjoy movies.
I guess I'm part of the "retarded general public". I'm young and naive enough to accept that; I was at the Avengers premiere, and I rarely go to see major comic book films like this, last time I probably saw a big superhero movie was either Spider Man 3 or Superman Returns. So when I saw all these other fans/nerds dressed up, I was a little taken aback. Sure, there were the less impressive costumes, but some with helmets and Cap shields and Thor capes (unfortunately no Black Widows -_-) and not once did it ever cross my mind that there might be some kind of bizarre, twisted high school graduate behind one of those masks. I didn't think some crazed fan might try and walk in and blow us away.
I can't help but feel a little paranoid at this. It'll probably fade in a few months or a year, once my life's moved forward a bit, and I'll probably look back on this and make demotivational posters about it. But for now... I really don't need to go and pay ten extra bucks to see Batman in IMAX3D. Nor do I have that many friends who are interested in seeing it.
I saw Batman Begins on a DVD I borrowed from a friend, I saw TDK on a DVD I bought for myself, and I might as well see TDKR on a torrent or on a Blu-Ray when it comes out. Complete the trilogy, you know?

Holy shit... they better not give him his phone call. This whole thing is giving off bad vibes.

I repeat, bad vibes. Next, we're going to hear about some massive police chase and an eighteen wheeler getting flipped over.

Wow, you really are psychic; how'd you know that ?Some people are assuming this was done because of of the villains in The Dark Knight Rises.
It sort of fits; Bane's (I haven't seen it yet) trying to accomplish citywide anarchy right? He's committing acts of terrorism, trying to provoke Batman and tear Gotham apart, spreading havoc and paranoia. Yeah, that sounds nerdy, but if the shooter really was interested of the movie and trying to create some form of irony, then horrible as it is to say, then he succeeded in being a murderous asshole. He even rigged his apartment with bombs and somehow managed to survive the ordeal.
Then again, it's probably not that complicated.

The movie was so good that people actually began to kill people because they believed Batman would come to save the day.People began to kill people because they believed one of the kids would become the Batman after his parents were shot down in front of him.
And I thought my jokes were bad.
In all seriousness, my condolences to those grieving families.
