the worse part is Colorado is a open carry state and its easy to get a CCL in colorado, I dont see how 4 of 100 people in that theatre screening wouldn't be carrying. of course you can blame the Left for stigmatizing carrying weapons in public.

Also, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that in high-panic situations such as this, even those who are in possession of a gun and can potentially incapacitate and possibly kill the assailant usually don't because they can't focus and accurately shoot the shooter. When the flight-or-fight response is activated, a person with a gun probably won't be able to fight by shooting his/her gun at the assailant.

There aren't many attempted mass murders that are stopped by armed civilians for a reason, you know.

Glad you made it out safe NATA. This is a real shame. There will be all kinds of talks over what to do in the future, but I think the most realistic thing to do is have theaters enforce a no costume/mask policy, and make sure all exits are secured so people can't come into the theater through side exits, etc. They should only be able to be used as an exit. This shouldn't cost the theaters much in the way of movie, and many may already do this. It is probably uneconomical to install things like metal detectors, hire extra security, etc. It would just put movie theaters out of business, or make the tickets cost so much no one would go.
