How did people manage to get through the day before the internet and video games came along to give meaning to their lives?

Well, slavery was big back then; I'd imagine tending to the fields took all day to do.
I'd rather die a Wolf fighting against the Herder, than die a Sheep heading for the slaughter.

People used to spend hours in front of the TV screen watching awesome shows.
And if/when there was no TV, people would go out and have fun in the real world - Sometimes even getting into trouble.
I hope you're not trying to troll us, OP.

I also don't understand how people enjoyed books before Harry Potter came along.

I for one would have loved to live in an era such as the 50s or possibly even the 60s I think it'd be joyous with all the great cinema and toys they had in production back then.

A long time ago, Marconi invented the Telegraph, and that's what people used for Facebook back then. Then there was the Telephone and the Radio, which is like Skype for the old days. Then when Television and Computers were invented, they didn't need to talk to one another as much, and they entertained themselves.
Also, they used to walk 15 miles in the rain and snow, played "stickball", screwed their cousins, went through several wars, and talked shit about the previous generation for their entertainment

They didn't. People were only created after basic electronics were invented.

According to my great-grandmother, who was born in 1918 it just sucked.
Her family was very poor even for those days and lived in the middle of nowhere. She lived in a house with a dirt floor for a while and they used to mop oil onto it to stop it from making dust. They had a school wagon. From what I gathered they didn't do much besides work and engage in idle activities to alleviate their boredom.

i played with action figures until i was around ten years old. Then i got hobbies. I started playing the guitar and honing my art skills, for one. I've also had a few jobs, girlfriends, other friends, and shit to do.
Even today I call people more often than i text.
Really. It's not difficult to get by without that stuff. I kind of wish I was born in the 50's or the 60's anyways.

Thou played with thy own sticks and rocks for entertainment, doesn't though agree with thy opinion that rocks are enjoyable forsooth?
