My dad's picked up stuff plenty for his wife and daughters. It's really not a big deal, nothing to be embarrassed about. And it's not weird, it's natural. If you're comfortable as a human you should have no problem with it.

I used to work in one. The only customers that should be embarassed of themselves are the ones who waltz in like bigshots and start barking at the staff because they don't have their stupidly specific brand of whatever in stock on that particular day.

I don't know what a "dollor" stor is, but I stay away form the dollar stores. It's all cheap shit. I don't buy cheap crap. I try to have some sort of standards.
