As a former employee of a satellite TV company, let me explain to you how this works.
Every so many years or so, the cable/satellite companies have to negotiate contracts with the TV networks such as ESPN, Nickelodeon, MTV, HBO, etc.
During this time, it is not unusual for TV networks to be dropped by the satellite/cable provider as the contract expires, and they continue to negotiate and hardball with one another for rights and trying to get the best price.
Basically, no one is getting cancelled. They are in a contract dispute.
