Inconsistency with American dates 2012-07-05 07:23:19 Reply

So as most are aware Americans like to have mm/dd/yy while us English like the more common sense way of dd/mm/yy

So then why does America suddenly go and pull a "4th July" bullshit. If they are going to say "September 11th" etc. then they have no business suddenly jumping to a different way of expressing dates. If they are going to say "4th July" then they should also say "11th September" and "25th December" etc. also. That country just has no consistency.

Then why don't you say "July the fourth?"

4th of July and July 4th are the same dates, just said differently.

Likewise, it's rare, but people have also said "...on the eleventh of September..." so it could be said either way, but it only sounds better one way or the other.

Even the most righteous, logically sound individuals are subject to poor reasoning skills and deluded mindsets.

that is not inconsistency

for this, let's go to the dictionary:

a : not compatible with another fact or claim <inconsistent statements>
b : containing incompatible elements <a n inconsistent argument>
c : incoherent or illogical in thought or actions : changeable
d : not satisfiable by the same set of values for the unknowns <inconsistent equations> <inconsistent inequalities>
âEU" in con sis tent ly

fourth of july and july 4th are not inconsistent by any definition

you are just complaining to be an annoying piece of shit

Fourth of July applies to the holiday, aka Independence Day; July 4th applies to the date. If someone is referring to the date, they say July 4th. It's not inconsistency, it's differentiation.

It made more sense in my head.
