________
Motivation is a huge issue for me at the start of any project. This is pretty bad since I am an art student and art is my only constructive hobby. Once I get started on a project I go all in and work tirelessly until it is finished, and I enjoy every second of it... But I have seriously terrible issues getting the motivation to actually start a project. Sometimes I get in a slump for whatever reason and it's even worse than normal, resulting in art block - something which I adamantly claimed for years to be a fable and a result of laziness.
I'm not sure why this is - the only solution I have found so far is to just force myself to draw something, anything - a frame, a character, a face, a sketch. Something to just get me started. Sometimes it takes off but sometimes it doesn't and it's really frustrating to have no motivation as an artist.
So I come to you, Newgrounds, to ask: as an artist, programmer, musician, or whatever you do - what motivates you to start and finish projects? And how do you bounce back from slumps or art blocks? Also, I am wondering if anyone experiences the same strange situation as me, where they find difficulty in starting a project but none in working on it afterwards.
My solution used to be my flash partner, but he's gone now and I am running out of ideas.
I just decided that I need a signature.
I just sometimes have this weird need to show other people my naked body. This is it, you can call it exhibitionism if you want.
If you don't have this need, then you're possibly not cut out to be a flasher (remember, public indecency may make you registered sex offender, so it's no joke).
sorry i did not read that but i recognize the point, making big projects can and will drain away your spirts and its important to take breaks and not overdo it for risk of becoming BORED
For me, it's usually just a matter of scheduling my time, and actually wanting to work on it.

I'm that lazy bastard who doesn't bother to take down his damn Christmas lights. I still have the fucking kriss-kringle hats from last year!

You'll never finish anything.

Nobody is more reliable than you are.
These are two truths you won't understand.
