I have noticed that many people go to school and have no idea what they want to become. Many people finish their education and then choose a career.
For me it is clear, I want to do anything in the film industry in the future.
What is your goal?

I want to graduate college and get a job as a computer programmer. Then, I want to visit Korea and Europe.
My goals in my hobbies:
Get enough money to buy tools and start making knives. I do that now but it's time consuming without proper tools.
Program a retro first person shooter similar to Doom.
See my favorite bands live at least once.

I'm in a course that will get me a Certificate IV when I leave high-school and then I plan on going to the AIE in Canberra. I still haven't decided whether to go into programming or 3D art. I like both, but I'm better at programming and I lack natural talent at drawing.
After that, the main problem will be finding a company I really like to work with. I'm doing this so I can earn a living doing something that makes me happy anyway, so being the lead programmer working on Dora's Edumahcational Advntrue would kind flush that down the toilet. But even then, I think I could find the time to develop games in my free time in an indie capacity. But what I would really like to do is work for Valve, which according to some students who were in exactly my position, is very possible as long as you study like fuck. Apparently the AIE sets up meetings with people and you get to go to America to talk to them in person. Also apparently "Valve have a line, and if you are above that line, you are hired".
Baby steps though, I want to learn a "real" language and create a flash game. A decent one. Daily 5 worthy. Meanwhile I have this project well underway.
I'm pretty convinced that I won't be happy unless I fulfill this goal/fall in love (much less likely). That's why I have dropped most difficult classes that lead to a career (Physics, Advanced Math, Engineering) and have therefore removed the safety net of "falling back".
I don't want to fall back. That would be shit.

No really, you can't have noobs who's first game was pokemon be game developers. They wouldn't even know how to write a hello world program in basic. If they're lucky, they'll end up being exclusive artists on e621 or furaffanity (where all the pokemon fans go).
I on the other hand, have grasped the concept of software engineering and would be more suitable for the job than those sickos.

I first played some of my brother's old PS1 titles of various kinds which I can't remember the names of. When I was 5 years old I got a Gameboy, played all the good Mario side-scrollers. I really got into games at age 7, when I got my Gamecube; Super Mario Sunshine was my freaking childhood, and remains my third favorite game of all time to this day. Still play that thing today.
