Hi! I'm wondering if it's acceptable to write something with MuseScore, then export it as a .wav, convert it to a .mp3 and submit it to the AP? I've never submitted to the AP before, although I listen to music there a lot. Thanks in advance!

No.
Mixcraft is a banned program here on Newgrounds. Do not use it, as it is a duplo program, and submitting songs made from this program will result in an automatic ban.

...what's a "duplo program"? I don't use Mixcraft anymore because it kinda sucks, but how does using it result in a ban?

bunch of pre-made loops stuck together = duplo
i dunno if mixcraft is JUST duplo but if someone submits something made with babby's first music maker we can usually tell very quickly if they've just stuck pre-made loops together

Well a duplo song is a song that was thrown together with just loops. Mixcraft kind of works that way so I guess thats where the term duplo program came from. That makes it common to ban. What makes it a 100% ban is that you are signing a EULA in order to use it.

Ah ok. Whenever I used Mixcraft, I never used the loops but wrote original work. I'm guessing that would not result in a ban?

What? You accept the terms of a EULA when you install any DAW. There might be a clause in Mixcraft's that disallows releasing works made in it under a creative commons license - I would like to actually read that part myself though...
Or we might be confusing it for Magix Music Maker? :P

This... I'm pretty sure Magix is what BrokenDeck was thinking of. AFAIK, Mixcraft is ok to use as long as you are writing your own music... I.E. not using the premade loops or midi ripping, and of course not sampling copyrighted material.

This. I forgot to specify that usage of the DUPLO samples in Mixcraft will get you automatically banned.
Here's the list of whatnot and programs of which are duplo and which aren't.
Audiotool (online based) - Duplo
EJay product line. Duplo
Garageband - DAW / Duplo
Jamstudio (online based) - Duplo
Magix Music Maker - Duplo
Mixcraft - DAW / Duplo
musicshake - Duplo
Punk-o-matic - Duplo (It's Evil-Dog's flash game)

I'd laugh if someone recorded their track in Audacity and submitted it to the AP.

It's happened before, those people are caught rather quickly.

Plenty of people have tried. It did not end well for them.
Moral of the story, don't upload it if you didn't make it.
HINT: Slapping a bunch of loops/samples together does not count as you making something!

As a Mixcraft user for a few years, I can vouch for its suitability as a DAW (although admittedly not a very complex one). Never submitted "duplo" projects, never been banned. I didn't think it was a problem, so I'm relieved to read this thread.

GarageBand is duplo? Is that something to do with any of the newer versions? The only version I ever used was the one that came on the G4 laptops in '04/'05 I believe, so either my memory is mistaken or there wasn't duplo (atleast then). Regardless, GarageBand is just a plain shitty program, no argument around it.

I played around with Garageband back in Highschool in our Creative Arts program... 2003-2005... And I vividly remember drag and drop loops... Why? Because that was before I was seriously into writing music and I made a bunch of duplo songs using the program (Was also before I started uploading to NG FYI).
Garageband is capable of writing original music, but it is very widely known for its premade loops... and has been since its introduction into the market.

I was probably too young to have the slightest clue of what I was doing so I probably didn't even get around to the loops. I can distinctively remember plugging my guitar through a direct to USB cable and remember being pissed because it wouldn't work in garageband for some reason. It makes it kinda funny if you think of any ad for garageband and they just like a band in a studio playing into it and the ad going "Professional musicians use garageband!" ....haha no they don't. Those are just the models from GAP holding guitars.
