Whevener I am editing my audio and doing mouth animations I click the sounds later, before the actual keyframe and wave, and it plays the whole mp3 continually, but only if i click before the keframe starts. also this makes it extremely difficult to lypsinc, as i can't pause the scene every 2-3 frames and sway mouth symbols. has anyone else ever had this problem? please help if you can! thanks!

Sounds like you need to set the audio to Stream so it'll stay synced to the timeline. Select a frame with the audio, look over at your properties window and there should be a drop down menu that's set to Event. Change this to Stream.
This will also lower the quality of the audio when you export the .swf file. You can fix that by increasing the quality in your movie's publish settings.
