In my opinion if I were developing a review response system I would allow all users to originally just see the review and hide all comments until someone clicked view comments on a particular review.
you used to be able to, i don't know whhy they would change something like that.
ok
Because Newgrounds =/= Youtube.
While at times responding to someone else's review would be very helpful, more often than not it just leads to a giant fucking flame war, and we don't want to reduce the reviews on this site to the intelligence level of Youtube comments, although it seems to be headed in that direction anyway.

Precisely. That, and reviewing a review is in itself an abusive review. You're reviewing the content of the submission, not having a conversation with other spectators.

Also completely agreeable. While the review system is for... well reviewing, people still treat the review system (mostly newcomers) like it was a comment system leaving one line reviews such as "lol", "sucks", "Could be better", etc, etc. You don't see that many people doing long winded reviews or even a paragraph showing what could be done to make the content better these days.

what is wrong with you
Because it's a review not a conversation.
Putting back fun in funeral.
Because those aren't comments, they're actual reviews. You're supposed to use that space to leave an actual review of the flash (and only the flash), it's not a Youtube-style comment area.

when it was possible, there was no way for the reviewer to respond, it was just nice for the author to be able to respond to criticism or suggestions the reviewer had.
it was never a conversation/comment style sort of thing, so i uh don't even uh know what the fuck you guys are uh getting at.
ok
