I'd love to get involved in animation as a professional level, do you have any tips on how you can improve as an artist/ animator? Did you read any enlightening tutorial books or videos online that helped you learn? Any advice to someone starting out who's trying to put a port folio together? Would you recommend moving to a bigger city where there's more chance of finding a decent animation studio? Am I asking too many questions? What are you wearing? Sorry.
First, a Charles Bronson (band) t-shirt. Black, khaki shorts.
Second, work WITH others. People A lot of folks work online & it's great that folks are getting on YouTube to learn nearly everything about anything. Yet, you can only learn so much with yourself basically. Almost everything I learned didn't come from my education (granted it helped), but having someone as a friend/instructor is the way to go. Get him/her a beer & get friendly. I keep myself busy by trying to be as engaging & friendly as possible.
Third, absolutely. Bigger cities offer more opportunities to provide not only work, but backup work in-case something gets cancelled or whatever. Don't just move blindly though. Figure out a game plan to be in a new city (my experience, LA) and have atleast 2 years to get a full-time gig. It could take longer, but during that time, work your skills with the people around your or online & do whatever it takes to stay local.

Have you worked on any Venture Bros. episodes at all?
Sadly no, I'd love to though. I don't get a lot of calls related to 2D because the animators/asst. animators usually can clean everything up. Maybe some effects here & there but it isn't a lot as compared to stop-motion.

Hey you should do an AMA on Reddit
I would but NDA's (which include not only video content, but discussion held within said studio) do include websites now-a-days. I did one years ago that had to be taken down. Not because I said anything juicy or horrifically incorrect, but because it's a publication website so producers are responsible for that. One lesson you all should learn fast is to never talk for someone/something. Even me putting this thread title as [adultswim] could get me an e-mail or two haha.

OP, what was it like working on robot chicken? Can you give us any details on the [AS]/Valve team up?
Was a lot of fun but very busy when I was there. I got to check out Skywalker Ranch which was the biggest plus for me & by Star Wars nerd of an older brother. And no, I know as little as you do because I am an avid TF2 gamer & they don't tell me crap about it :P
Gabe called my TF2 series "funny & educational" though haha.
