Once again with the video game water theme...
Are there any games out there, 3D or even 2D, that have real water physics/fluid dynamics?
Like, if you were to break a water tank, all the water would spill out onto the floor.
Do any such games exist, or are computers still just too primitive to process real liquids?

Some games. Not realistically mind you, but yes, water flows in:
Pixel junk shooter, Silent hill shattered memories, ad Uncharted 3. Thats all I can say at the top of my head.

I really like when I shoot a barrel full of liquid, and it pours out enough to be at the level where I shot it.
Dunno why, but it really bothers me when barrels just pour infinitely, or for a set amount of time no matter where or how many times you shoot it.

I haven't played any games with that kind realism sorry not a big help.
And computers already have the processing power it's just a pain in the ass to code real water. IMO
Does anyone actually read these?

Ahh yes hydrophobia. The game was praised for it's water physics. Unfortunately it failed in every other aspect.

Those are just.....'water blocks'. It's very formulaic and unrealistic, I'm not sure if it counts.

Powder Game and Falling Sand come to mind, but aside from Java-based browser games, I can't think of anything that really nailed a water physics system.

There is "From Dust" It's a sort of game where you can control pretty much everything, The water is realistic too.

Real water physics has to be based on quantum hydrodynamics. Anything else is an approximation.

I suppose video games use very basic fluid dynamics models for liquids, because I'm pretty sure if they go state-of-the-art with that it would demand a huge amount of processing power which is just not worth the slight gain in realism. In fact, I think it would take any normal PC hours, if not days, to model the movement of each "water particle" properly. And like satanbrain said, even state-of-the-art models are only approximations anyway.
So basically, yeah, I think modern PCs are still too primitive for that.

It's actually getting slightly better. World of Warcraft just did a new patch with the Isle of Thunder. It actually has real waves that hit the island. Is it a huge technological advancement? No. But when you have a game as big as WoW is you need to realize that something like waves are a big deal. Even the water is pretty cool looking if you have the graphics up all the way.
Yea, I farm Anal Penguins. Do something about it.

Some nice suggestions: Hydrophobia, Uncharted 3, WoW with maxed out settings, Wave Race, all offer nice water physics.
I do agree with what SatanBrain and Auz said though, designing water in your game is always an approximation due to it not being worth processing the complete hydrodynamics of every particle, this would only serve to strain your PC and isn't worth the trade off. Providing realistic simulation of water physics is notoriously difficult to implement properly and is incredibly graphic intensive. Perhaps as technology grows, so will the capability to handle photo realistic fluid simulation.
I can't believe no one mentioned Cryostasis though, one of the finest examples of how to design water. I also heavily enjoyed Bioshock's water, but I'm probably slightly biased and flabbergasted by the game's other exceedingly amazing properties.

If by real water physics you mean particule based, then I don't know any game like that.
All the water in video game I know are polygon based with texturing giving the illusion of water. And for the best water, some forces applying to the polygon model, objects, and characters.

Yes, the best water effects are just an approximation...
But so is the best lighting and material deformation.

Go play Borderlands 2 with the graphics set on JESUS.
There are water and cloth physics.
