minimizing exported file size 2012-06-22 06:32:56 Reply

hey guys, any other tricks to keep the exported file size down other than the known tricks? like, some sort of compression thingy.... i use flash cs3.


OR a new program altogether?

Well I don't know about compressing but if you want to keep the .swf file minimal you could try drawing backgrounds in photoshop(or any art program) and importing it as a picture in flash. Also use less movieclips.

Also sound and graphic quality take up a bit of space. Try going into publish settings and lowering the JPEG quality and the audio stream and event settings. For example lower the bit rate, change the quality to fast and select the MP3 compression setting.

This is a little late, but...
I was under the impression imported raster graphics take more memory than flash vector graphics, while vectors consume more processor time. I'm not really heavily into the technical end of it but I do remember learning this.
