For my next Animation, I want to get out of nature and start improving my self on urban environments. I also want it to be stylized and I think Steampunk perfectly matches the plot and theme that I'm going for in the story. I'd like to have a direct forum with artists here to help me improve on my designs. Right now I have a basic diagram of how the city will look, as well as buildings that I've designed. Any idea of what I should do to improve on its design to make it more 'steampunkish'?

The best advice I can give you is find good references for both the buildings and the steam-powered mechanisms.

Some examples of buildings are Jefferson's Monticello, the Crystal Palace, Henri Labrouste's Biblioteque Ste. Genevieve, Webb's Red House, and the Houses of Parliament.

For the machinery, take a look at Steamboy.

If there's a defining style of steampunk other than the obvious brass and clockwork and whatnot
it is excess. Steampunk doesn't have to be practical looking, however there is a point where cramming stuff on stops looking neat and whimsical, and just starts looking dumb.
