You might be better off asking the animation forum, but i'd recommend you try finding photos of the sort of desert you want and looking at them for inspiration as you draw. You probably don't want to copy them exactly, but external visuals will help you figure out how to express the feel you're trying to project.

Failing that, post a picture of what you've got so far. It's hard to offer advice when when we don't know what you need.

I would suggest unity but i'm not sure weather you mean 3D images or an actual 3D environment.
I have a good friend that uses unity for platformer games that would be a good start..

It's actuall 3d enviornment that i'm making for my sprite films. i'm doing something new for scenes that are too hard to do with regular stuff in flash. just from an artistic stand point would it need anything else stuff like that. like cactus stuff like that. stuff that would make it a true desert scene.

The problem is, we can't judge wether or not you need to add or remove something, can't tell you if it's bad or good, can't give you proper advice altogether as long as we can't see what you've got so far. Until you have a pic to show, the best advice is what lovingthedark said: Look at reference pictures and try to work out what it needs to look somewhat convincing.

So far the consensus of this is we want to see what you have done so we can aid you in to where to go next.
