Yes, text based adventure games. Like the reeeally old ones where you literally had to type out your commands.

I'm not expecting a lot of you to have played many, maybe not even one, but those who have know that it's a strangely fun experience.

*pssst* If you haven't played one then click here.

It's a perfectly legal link as well.

Anyway, for those of you who have played some, which one is your favorite? Do you have any memories? A few notable titles?

Discuss, for the sake of nostalgia.

P.S. My favorite is right here.

I haven't played maaaany text-based adventures but i'd say my favorites would have to be of course the Zork series. And others like The Lurking Horror. Not much nostalgia except for playing them during my first term of college and getting frustrated at trying to heat some goddamn chinese food in a microwave and not knowing how to set it to high.

I much prefer point and click adventures like IHNMAIMS, Gabriel Knight, Kings Quest, etc..

Ooh Zork. Always wanted to play that.

I've played a few, but none really stick in my mind. One I do vaguely recall was Gateway 2. That's was quite fun. Never finished it though.

I don't know if you can call them proper text adventures, as it's all about computer commands, and not "Turn south, pick up cat, turn north", but I enjoy the Hack Run games.

I've been meaning to try out Zork. I tried it one time and got a little bit through it but just lost the patience but if I can get good at Dwarf Fortress than I can definitely get into Zork and other text-based adventure games.

Really? I hate to break it to you but that puzzle was a cinch for me. The one that really got me though was when you had to sever the cord to the floor waxer.

Still got through it, just took a bit
