I disagree with the creation of an edit button.
Because someone else asked something like this:
This picture is just made look at the date and you will figure it out yourselves.

You know, I never really understood why this was such a big deal.
This debate has been going on for years now, and I don't understand why it just won't die.
People have talked about doing a points system. It's an interesting concept, but to be honest, why do we even need an edit button? So what if you forgot to capitalize a word or something. Big deal. Make up for it next time, champ.
Worried about spelling? Firefox has a built-in spell check. It's amazing.
As a community, we need to move past this petty squabbling onto bigger and better things.

People could change their posts to avoid responsibility and be able to say "oh! i never posted that!". Plus if you proofread your post you have nothing to fear.
Only sucky posters need an edit button.

yea, having a basic editing feature is just not feasible and we should totally give up on the idea, especially when most other fourms have those things.

Sure, other forums have them.
People, Tom doesn't want one here. This is a privately owned site. That's all that matters.

Instead of this "points" thing, I say just make a limit to how many edits you can make. Like, you can only edit a post you have made once an hour, and if you do so, it would say at the top when you edited your post along with when you originally made it, so people know if it was changed. Allowing more edits for higher-leveled people could work, I guess, but the user level has nothing to do with anything forum related as far as I know, so I don't see much of a point to that.
Evading bans shouldn't be an issue. Over at GameFAQs.com, mods and admins are able to see both the original post and the edited post regardless of how much it was changed, so if the original post is something warranting a ban, they won't hesitate in dishing one out. Newgrounds mods should have the same ability.
As for trolls changing their posts to something else for the sake of more trolling, we'll at least know which ones to avoid should they do such a thing too frequently. Besides, we're not supposed to feed them, anyway.

Trying to tell people why we can't have an edit button and why their ideas would just be a limited amount of chaos is like arguing with a 4 year old who wants candy.

I enjoy having no edit button, what you say you are stuck with, if you are an idiot then you are stuck showing your retardation for all time. I greatly approve of such things.

I doubt that this feature will be implemented... Yet sometimes I wish that it would, because I tend to make really dumb grammar mistakes in my posts and don't notice them when checking.
But if there were an edit button... It would be best that you could only edit your post in the interval of 5 minutes, so that you could have enough time to fix mistakes or add something else to the post. Then again, people would still exploit the shit out of it.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Because there will always be a way around the system and we wouldn't have hilarities like "dot dot dot". However, trolling on the forums would be a lot more fun, but ultimately this would just be exploited by idiots who have nothing better to do than make bad dbz/sonic sprite animations with the version of flash the got off TPB. If thid were ever implemented, it would be the death of the forums. This place would become a chaotic wasteland where only noobs and those who have nothing better to do would dare venture.
I'm not spending more time on this than I have to.

I don't see why people don't want a edit button. If it's for people editing their arguments so the other party's argument doesn't make sense, have a little line at the bottom of the post saying ''posted edited by user at timestamp.
And since edits don't count as a post, i don't see what sorts of abuse this could bring.
Let's not mention that edit buttons are basically a must-have for every forum.

Yes every other forum has one, but Newgrounds forum is different. There would be heavy abuse. Besides it's not entirely hard to proofread your post before posting it. You're on a forum, not a chat site. Besides small typos aren't a bad thing, I've made myself a good number of typos in posting as I'm sure others have as well.
The Newgrounds Staff has said time and time again that there will be no Edit Button for the forums and there won't be. Besides they have more important features to work on. You know, like that Literature Portal.

Clearly you're too young to have spent enough time on the Internet to understand how it works.

The people screaming abuse are fucking retarded.
We have a link function that can link people to porn/scream sites, acess to put Youtube videos on thread which can be very NSFW, and last but not least, we have the biggest fucking outlet of abuse, the ability to put any kind of image in your post.
With all those ways to abuse, it's kind of funny how abuse is rare here. Mods could check the original post before the edit to check for rule breaking.
Moved to new account.

Nobody says that an Edit Button wouldn't be useful. We all know that it would be, but the majority of the tweens and teens would abuse it and with the General forum's stupidity it would lead to chaos for the forum moderators. You can make your pleas all you want and all sorts of ideas, but the staff have already decided against an Edit Button.
You want an Edit Button so badly? Take it up with them.

The only way that I see an edit button working on these forums is if we are limited on the amount of characters we can change or remove during our edit. I'd say a maximum of 5-8 characters would suffice. That allows enough room to delete a word or fix a few spelling mistakes on longer posts.
