3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsAs a college student looking for things to do so that my mom isn't mad at me for just sitting around upstairs, I'm considering becoming a new online voice actor for Newgrounds or any other possible venues. The problem is I don't know anything about online voice acting, and I'm not even sure I'm prepared for this. No, wait, I'm definitely not prepared. So, I have a list of questions that I'm hoping that maybe some professionals could assist with.
1. Is there any type of hardware or software that I REQUIRE (not exactly recommended stuff like super expensive mics and such) for starting out this little career? (currently have: untampered rather-modern laptop, microphone used for online communications [skype, etc], Microsoft Windows 7 (I think))
2. What is the process for getting hired for this type of thing? Do I go to the artist or does the artist request me to help?
3. How does file transferring work for audio clips between client and worker?
4. Can I get paid for doing this? If so, what are the normal rates?
I have to tell you, I'm an experienced actor having been in multiple plays and drama events, and have taken college classes for acting. My voice range goes from gruff to almost totally feminine and I can sing alto and bass.
Any kind of advice would be very useful. Thank you!
