I'm not really excited about it.
No reboot was really needed in my opinion.
Also, I know it's in the comics but I find it hard to believe a 17 year old HS student made pressurized web shooters.
Especially one with hardly any money.
I liked the organic webbing in the other series more.

They should've made Spider-man 4 instead.

he's one of the smartest characters in the marvel universe and one of the few who can hold a scientific conversation with reed richards
his origins and most media outside of his regular comic book series don't tend to portray him as a super-genius though

He made it by spending a lot of time with Mary Jane.

I know, this is why it works in the comics, but it seems they are trying to give him a "everyman/average teenager" kind of thing, which really does not fit.
Who knows thought? He might come off really smart

They really made him look like a dumbass in Spider-Man 1-3, he barely showed any intelligence at all except for when he was talking with the professor, and even then he was kinda like "what this black goop do, professuh?"

i doubt it
they always focus on his humor more than intelligence to pander to younger demographics
this will be a terrible film compared to raimi's spiderman
the weird sub-plot involving him finding out his father's identity seems especially strange/unnecessary

They should animate the movie like that old spiderman cartoon. That would be hilarious.

I probably won't see it. One thing that annoys me is that Peter Parker is supposed to be a colossal nerrd, and yet people who are cast to play him look nothing like a person who gets made fun of would look like.

I agree with you 100 % and was gonna post that. The guy playing him seems like, IRL, would be one of the popular students at his HS.

Toby Mcguire was a damn good spiderman. But fine I guess, Michael Sera will be the star of the next reboot.

Peter Parker is a nerd, which Toby Maguire pulled off alright. But honestly? Not good enough.
This new Peter Parker is this emo looking guy, not nerdy at all. I am disappoint.

I'm alright with the idea of a reboot. But I have no idea why they want to tell his origin story again. It's not like there was a movie 10 years ago, and 2 cartoons that told us about it.
I'm pretty sure everybody knows how Spider-Man became Spider-Man. And if they did want to tell us about it they could have just done what The Hulk movie did and just do a quick flashback sequence.

Emo is bad, nerd is good.
Also I just saw this in the wikipedia description and had to stop reading
Garfield also compared his Spider-Man as a metaphor for internet trolls with the comparison of his wise-cracking humor that he will have in the film.
"hey guys I'm going to be a troll lol I'm cool" urgh.... why can't people just leave things on the internet to the internet. They may as well throw in memes at this rate.

Yeah, it's the Spider-MAN movie, not Spidey-Bro. The movie's not about you.

Judging by the trailers, I think that this film is focusing more on the origin story and taking more of a "Why did this happen to me?" sort of approach because of all the talk about his father and that there are secrets that need to be uncovered, and I'm sure it will probably have to do with his origin story and change it up a little from the usual Spider-Man origin.
If I'm correct, I'd say it's perfectly fine for them to start from the beginning this time, since it really seems to be the focus of the film.
