I'm certain that you've already got a good team on the build. I'm definitely interested if the project is still going on and I've written a short story in the span of a few minutes as a bit of an audition of sorts. This was written at 8:30 (or so) central time on Monday June 4th 2012.
âEUoeItâEUTMs going to be a banner fucking year, Mrs. Havershaw.âEU Spoke the reflection of Loena Dawn-Havershaw. She pulled her strawberry-blonde hair into a tight coiffure and squinted into the mirror. The woman stared into pale green eyes and a sallow young face, Loena swore under her breath and grabbed hold of her handbag.
Each day at Her Blessed Assurance Preparatory Academy made Loena feel as though she werenâEUTMt entirely in control of anything in her life. She wiggled beneath her desk and waited for the signal to end her first period Linguistics and Dialect class then defected to the bathroom to relieve herself in a furious huff. Her lunches always went unfinished and she made no fuss about the after-school tutoring requirement for new teachers. Her heels struck hard linoleum and sent her footsteps echoing down the hall to meet young LâEUTMOntario Desmond Warrington as he stood outside the classroom door. A dark skinned boy of six; he wore a second-hand uniform suit with bleach stains and missing belt loops. In spite of this, he was one of LoenaâEUTMs most brilliant wordsmiths and made no excuse for poor understanding. His full lips curled up into a shy smile and he raised his head to meet LoenaâEUTMs gaze.
âEUoeGood day, Mrs. Havershaw. I wasnâEUTMt able to complete my translation assignment due to an illness in the family. My private study time this afternoon will be dedicated to its completion and I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for you.âEU
Loena forgot her temper. LâEUTMOntario had never missed an assignment in the two years they'd shared at the school. She reflexively made to rub a hand over his head, but stopped short above his jet curls. He smiled and managed to look apologetic in the same flexing of facial muscles.
âEUoeWell let us not make this a regular occurrence, Mr. Warrington. I would hate for your marks to slip when your love for the spoken word is so obvious.âEU
He shook his head quickly. âEUoeOh no, Mrs. Havershaw! Perish the thought!âEU
She cast him an empathetic look and motioned for him to enter the classroom.
I can only pray that he gets what he needs from me. This child becomes my time here. He is the definition of whyI should be doing this.
She managed to finish her self-reflection before the bell rang to signal the beginning of the next class period. LâEUTMOntario took his seat at the window and settled in. Loena looked over the faces into twenty pairs of eyes and gave them her most placid look.
âEUoeGood morning, wordsmiths. In lieu of turning in your translation assignment, today will be an oral lesson in its entirety. Lucien and Salacia will be in charge of tea. LâEUTMOntario will start us off with an excerpt from âEU~The Holy BarbariansâEUTM by Lawrence Lipton.âEU Said Loena.
Blonde Lucien and stocky Salacia rose from their desks and made their way to the âEUoetea cornerâEU built into the back of the room. LâEUTMOntario stood, folded his hands behind his back and rocked--just a tad--on his heels. Loena smiled as his voice rose steadily to quote from the book.
âEUoeWhen the barbarians appear on the frontiers of a civilization it is a sign of a crisis in that civilization. If the barbarians come, not with weapons of war but with the songs and ikons of peace, it is a sign that the crisis is one of a spiritual nature. In either case--âEUoe
Loena looked up at him. His eyes were wide. He stared off into the distance in silence as the class turned to face him. She turned a bit to look behind her desk.
âEUoeLâEUTMOntario? WhatâEUTMs going on--why have you stopped?âEU She asked.
He said nothing. Silence for a moment, and then a low rumbling pulsated through the classroom. Before the class had a moment to speculate on the source of the sound the back wall exploded, engulfing Lucien and Salacia in dust and debris. A garment of smoke washed over the figure of the beast that had made so much firewood of the classroom wall. It stood twenty feet in height and though most of its form was shrouded in an otherworldly mist the onlookers could not deny that it was physically impressive. Lucien screamed when a massive paw crashed down on his forearm. Salacia coughed and sputtered and cried as she attempted to free herself from a large chunk of brick and plaster. The beast moved toward the silent LâEUTMOntario.
Loena blanched and a warm stream trickled down her leg, but she felt nothing. Not fear, not panic--she was simply frozen in place. Neither she nor the children were able to process the monster that made a slow approach toward her favorite student. LâEUTMOntario turned and bowed a bit to the beast, who in turn breathed slow moving green-grey cloud into the boyâEUTMs face. LâEUTMOntario spoke softly.
âEUoeI would rather not go if--if I could be permitted--âEUoe LâEUTMOntario stammered.
The beast snarled and shook its body, causing cinders to fall from its coarse fur.
Loena found her voice.
âEUoeLâEUTMOntario! WhatâEUTMs--whatâEUTMs happening?âEU Her voice shook.
The boy turned--a weak smile plastered to his face.
âEUoeMy most sincere apologies, Mrs. Havershaw. I apologize for any inconvenience--âEUoe
An enormous claw closed around his waist. The beast crouched, roared, and shot into the air to vanish among the clouds. Loena Havershaw stood agape as her students cried and screamed. The paramedics arrived to find her standing behind her desk, frozen in what was to be a yearlong coma. Mrs. HavershawâEUTMs life had finally gotten the change sheâEUTMd longed for.
I've spent years developing a knowledge for character development and would love to bring what I've learned as well as my passion to the project. I've also got some visual arts know-how (a BFA in Illustration/Animation) though I wouldn't call myself any kind of skilled. It's mostly just a hobby. Writing is what I love most in the world.
PM me for more details. Can't wait to get started!
I'd like to contribute, though I'm new to this whole thing, PM me for anything man.

I'll write up some character profiles and bios for other writers to work off of if you'd like, PM me if you'd like
send me some detail and ill see what i can do.

yeah, ya know, what everyone else said, PM me, what ever, i'm always interested in a writing project i don't have to be too horribly commited to and such.
I'd like to consider myself to be a good writer, so if you're in need of writers for your team then I would still happily aid you. My primary speciality is in AU or futuristic/near-futuristic settings.

Hey, I'm a writer, and I'd be more than happy to help. I've written about two 50,000 word books, and written dozens of poems. If you're interested, then I'm you're man and you can message me about it, but still, it's your call.

OH MY FREAKING GOD, YES!! I'LL HELP YOU!!
First of all, sci-fi/distant future is one of my favorite genera to write, right after fantasy! Secondly, I live in the Mid-West and there are like, NOOO stories about it! So I'll certainly be great at capturing the mid-western flair! Thirdly, I have a couple of plots in mind already, so you can PM me if you want to know some of them.
And my axe!
But yeah, send me details. I neither live in the mid west nor have any experience, but you gotta start somewhere.
I would love to help you write this. If you want some samples of my writing in comic script or whatever structure you want, let me know. Send me some more info and I will see what I can do.
