When you select the sound there should be a few options in the preferences box.
Underneath where it says which sound file it is, there should be a drop down menu under it that lists effects. You can choose a few, including fading out and fading in.

If you go to Custom instead of fade in, you can get a more refined result. (You can also drop the audio of sound clips)
You 2 just taught me stuff I didn't know. Didn't even realise you could fade in and out sounds in flash. Cheers.
