Caring about people on the internet

Do you care about people on the internet? Like have 'close friends' and other things like that online. No, not like Facebook friends, but friends like on NG or Steam, etc.

So many of my friends are on the internet that for a while I assumed it was like that for everyone

This, and choco you're full of it, I know theres a few people (myself included) who like you. Personally I have a few good friends on NG, but I don't have the courage to ever get the nerve up to go to a NG meet, despite 4-5 close friends always going to them.

Yup. I have a small number of people that I got to know online, mainly through NG, that I'd now consider to be good friends of mine. I've even had the chance to meet some of them in person which was cool and in a way verified that they are decent people that I'm happy to consider friends of mine.

Some people seem really sceptical of internet friendships and for some reason refuse to accept them as actual friendships. I couldn't disagree more.

I had (have?) some internet friends in a MMO guild though I haven't played the MMO in awhile or talked to the people in awhile...

Also back when I played Habbo Hotel (9-13 years old) I had some e-friends there as well.

Good times but now I don't really have any e-pals and that is kind of depressing. Its just really hard for me to find people on the internet that I want to bother talking to.

I might join a TF2 clan and get to know the people there. Or find a Gmod community to join or something. I DO have my microphone back too so I could get back into voice chat which I haven't done in awhile though I'm pretty awkward and stiff when it comes to voice chat lol.

But yeah, it would be nice to one day get some more e-friends.

There are certain people here and there that I care about, and would really miss if they left. As to the internet in general, I don't really have a heart for what happens to them. Some of you might consider that heartless but really, emotions are for people you know on a certain level.

I actually think it would be kind of weird for a person to care about people he didn't even know anything about besides their screen name.

Well, I can't call them "close friends", but it is a certain type of relationship, for sure. I mean, I've met some decent folks on the BBS, and I've exchanged e-mails with some, added some on Skype.

Speaking of Skype, the Audio Forum has a huge Skype convo, where all the regs hang out. I find it really nice and heartwarming to see that we're so tight and in close contact.

What else can I say? If the contact continues over the years, then you get used to this crap. And if the person leaves, it certainly seems like a "lost friend". Still don't know what word to pick to characterize this relationship shit.

Yeah, played some team oriented online games. If you team up with the same people over the course of years you develop some friendships. Even if you don't meet them in person you still talk to them alot and the team works aspect makes you bond like you would a teammate in sports. Sometimes I'd miss the people I've lost in touch with from these so yeah I guess I care about them in some way.
