Ok I've just built a new PC and I would like to see what you guys think.

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 8-Core Processor
Video: ATI Radeon HD 5500 (Handed down from my old PC)
RAM: 16gb
HDD: 1tb

And that's pretty much everything, unless you wanna know about my cooling system and power supply.

I got it all at the somewhat low price of ~$500

How'd I do?

Also, I think you got a pretty good bang for your buck.

CPU: Good.
Video: Good, but may need improvement later on.
RAM: Excellent - Make sure you have a 64-bit OS to make use of it.
Hard Drive: Excellent.

It'd be cool if you'd post some info on your cooling and case too, because that 125W (I think) TDP for the CPU must make it pretty hot.

Yah 16GB is definately overkill, but it was cheap and I was already buying 8 cores of processing power so I thought might as well go all the way, right?

As far as cooling I have a Hyper N520 CPU cooler, A fan that came attached to my tower, and a cheap fan that I found at a local store.
All this keeps my board at nice cool temperature of 27°C when just browsing the web, and 40°C Max while running Skyrim.

Did I mention it's whisper quiet? :)

I can run pre-2004 games at the highest settings. Games using the Source engine like Half-Life 2, Portal 2, and Team Fortress 2 run well with the graphical settings maxed with the lowest screen resolution and anti-aliasing turned off. Grand Theft Auto IV runs like complete shit even at the lowest settings and resolution.

In a couple years I would like to build my own PC. I can't do that now because I have to way of paying for it.
