Round 2 of the Newgrounds Annual Tournament of Animation has been announced!

32 artists have survived the Open Round and are moving on to the Novice Round, where each has to defeat a single opponent to move on to the next bracket.

The Open Round theme was "Discovering Time Travel" and I'm trying to give a lot of them some time on the front page. You can see them all in the NATA 2012 collection.

The Round 2 theme is "The Elephant in the Room."

If you missed your chance to compete in NATA, you can still participate in Robot Day or the ongoing Stencyl Jam!

Also, I snapped a picture of this and had to share it, the irony is over whelming (advertising a product on a site that openly bashed the product so much that the product owners forced for the site to remove the presence of its product) o-( :3)

I am loving this tournament. I need to get around to reviewing the entries.

Yeah I wasn't going to point it out, but yeah. Well technically it's the second round of the contest, but first round of the bracketed tournament segment, while technically named the Novice Round.

Great NATA 2012 entries so far all. Definitely looking forward to seeing some really great toons (I might try making a short elephant toon too (for practice):) Good luck!

I enjoyed the first round submissions. I faved a bunch of them. Can't wait for round two.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys come up with the themes for each round before the start of the tournament, or do you just think it up the day before the start of each round?

In this case, I literally decided on the theme about a half hour before the Novice Round was posted. I'm usually a lot better about that.

ok how do you know if you made it to round 2/1 lol I mean my animation on the nata page.. and I FINALLY have a drawing pad.. "a cheap one" but, one none the less.. so, "if" I'm part of round 1/2 then, I could pump out a waayyy better animation. :P
