This summer I'll be going on holiday with the family to America. We start in Denver and finish in San Francisco. And I've been charged with finding stuff to do in the various places we visit over the two and a bit weeks we're there. Can anyone recommend anything good to do in Denver? We have two full days there, and would like to do a bit more than just visit a few museums. We won't have picked up or car yet either, so we're looking for stuff to do right in the city, or at most a short taxi journey away. Also, if you know any nice places to eat, that would be great too!
Cheers! :D

Take the trip to Northern Colorado. Fort Collins has a shit ton of unique restaurants and about 9 breweries in the city alone. Plus we have a Budweiser plant. Fort Collins is basically, "Yay, beer!"

now you really can...
However there's plenty to do in Denver, just like any other medium sized city... from sights to touristy things to nature and other stuff...
also yes, weed and skiing

Summer with no transport... and everyone suggests travelling huge distances or skiiing... hmmm
The reality is that there isn't a massive amount in Denver itself- it is more a gateway to better places in the Rockies. Downtown is fairly nice, but nothing too exciting. It is also not far from the Mile High stadium, which is worth a visit if you are into American football (there is also an aquarium nearby, though again not too impressive, and a zoo to the East based in a huge park).
Generally the suburbs are quite green, with lots of open park space- I spent most of my Summer there chilling out, or in one of the numerous sports bars. There is a lot of green space to the South and West of downtown in particular.
Failing all that the train links into the mountains are good- the Rockies are really the place to visit when in Denver, and are as stunning in Summer as Winter (though no skiing).
No idea where the best places to eat are though- I stuck to bars when I wasn't cooking for myself, but nothing stands out in my memory. I am sure there are some good places in the centre.

Just don't go to the Denver Airport.
It's a mighty wicked place where bad stuff happens.

You remind me of me, when I was in Denver.
Honestly, it's an amazing city. DEFINITELY visit the 18th Street Mall. It's awesome.
Also, you might want to look into their new state-wide ordinance. It could very well increase your enjoyment.

I'm stewling this thread. I'm moving to Denver soon. These are some good suggestions. But what could I expect when I arrive? It sounds pretty boring after living in Orange County all my life.

Hey this is my thread now. And this is not an option for me.

Haha, the first response was pretty accurate.
Even before weed was legal, and especially now since it is, you'll be tokin' the worlds best bud. Skiiing/snowboarding the worlds best mountains, visiting some of the prettiest sights.
I like making movies, music, and smoking weed. Call me crazy.

If you want this thread you'll have to get by me first.
But seriously, if you're actually moving make your own thread and hopefully you'll get some genuine replies, also perhaps people in your thread will actually talk to each other instead of just showing up to post what they think and leaving without actually discussing anything ;D

A bit different if you are actually living there, especially as I am assuming this is without parents... Denver has a thriving singles scene- it was advertised to me as the best in the USA. Certainly the climate helps this- glorious sunshine through most of the year (the parks are usually full), followed by a few months of skiing season. With access to the Rockies there is no shortage of things to do, but if stuck in Denver there are numerous decent bars and places to meet people. I spent much of the year playing tennis, with evenings spent in the bars meeting people.
I know nothing of shopping, but there are a couple of huge malls in the area.
