Sup guys.
My name is John, I'm 18.
Lately I have been thinking about getting into game development, as a hobby.
Alas, my developing knowledge is non existant.
Eventually, I'd like to be able to make stuff like this this
or this.
Can anyone learn get all of the knowledge needed on the internet ?
Would there happen to be a mentoring program any of you might know about ?
Any answerer will recieve my endless love.

FlashDevelop is a much cheaper (free) alternative, and compatible with FlashPunk and Flixel (used to make the second game you linked to).

You don't need technologies like flash to make games. HTML and JavaScript are another healthy alternative.

Do you have any experience programming? If not you should consider messing around with qbasic or turbo pascal. Then work your way up to more advanced languages like java, or C++.

And by the way, if you don't have it, you're gonna need to dig deep in order to buy Adobe Flash.

I suggest you first learn an easy language e.g javascipt and then move on to Actionscript,Java or whatever you want.

This, or I could suggest python too, to start messing around with.

That's not a great idea. Languages aren't grouped solely by how "easy" they are. There are different types of languages for different purposes. While Javascript and Actionscript use a similar syntax, they are for different purposes, and if you want to move on to Java and C languages afterwards, I recommend starting with Actionscript, or skipping straight to Java.

Hello, first... its really necesary to say your age? xD, whatever...

Hi, im 18 too xD and i have some experience on simple game develop as a hobby..., don't worry,
you can get all the necessary knowledge on the internet to create simple indie games
like angry birds,jetpack joyride ,etc...
if you don't have any programming experience y recommend you to begin with python 2.7 language because its very simple to learn, and then you can use a module for python called 'pygame', this module allows you to use graphics and many useful functions for game develop. Python also works on web. or you can try to learn java or c++ to use SDL or Allegro graphic libraries...

greetings from México.
