Obama is clearly looking to move into the more accepting future the world is becoming. Sadly though I can expect he will loose the next election since America as a whole are closed minded backwards cunts.

He's a hypocrite, Nothing but a puppet of Democracy! -_- How much would anybody of you like to bet that if his daughters came out and said they were "Lesbian" he would be "proud of them >.>
Seriously! Besides... He just wants to get re-elected this year so he is trying to gain moral support... Its just sickening... Nothing else!

Because as we all know, being open minded is the only thing we should judge America on, and the rest of Obama's actions shouldn't be taken into account because he is ok with gay marriage.

It's nothing more than a political move. He still can't run a country.

Supporting the RIGHT to do those things is different from actually doing them yourself.

It seems that it's because Biden's been vocal about being supportive of gay marriage.

I just want to bring this up, which blows the whole "marriage has always been traditionally between man and woman" out of the water.

I literally laughed out loud. A politician having an opinion that won't positively affect him politically? Yeah, right. Does anyone honestly believe he came out with this information because he has an "open mind?"
Nope. This will look good for him in the coming election. He's got the gay vote down pat. The more he looks like an "open minded" liberal, the better. He's running up against a Caucasian billionaire Mormon for Christ's sake. The man's going to win a second term by a landslide.
So... yeah, politics is dumb, you're dumb for thinking Obama did this without personal gain, etc etc amurrica fuck yeah

Seriously! Why is this even a fucking issue anymore. If you like the same fucking gender and want to be with them for the rest of your life, what is the big deal?

People seriously think this is a campaign stunt?
What possible campaign utility could it serve to affirm his support for a small group which already supports him almost unilaterally, and would never vote for his opposition? He did it to take a principled stand, and to keep his administration internally consistent with what Biden had already said earlier this week.
Lmao at anyone who seriously thinks that pandering to a small minority is an election strategy.

if I cared just slightly more, I'd register to vote and give Obama my support.
sadly, that's not the case.
even so, if nothing else, he's the best president that's been in office during my lifetime.

So the turd sandwich got tastier, but the giant douche smells nicer on the other side...
More empty words, how about worry more about your economy and wars. The president shouldn't even be involved with any of this religious crap especially with your country in the poop.
But who cares really, these guys are all just puppets anyways.

Given that the majority of the country does not support gay marriage, this is a dividing issue for them. Obama lost his chances to win the religious crowd, which will now almost certainly go for Mittens, unlike before where people were put off by the whole Mormon thing.

It's a massive appeal to the youth vote. I'm not saying that's the entire reason he came out with it, though. There doesn't have to be a singular reason for acting politically. Wouldn't it seem pointless to simply state your new and improved views for no reason other than to "let everyone know"? I believe his opinions have always been pro-marriage for gays and in fact it was him NOT admitting to it that was political originally. So, from this I gather that it is now more beneficial strategically to "change his mind" than to remain against gay marriage.
Given the number of people who support this (even apparent in this thread), I would say that despite Obama's intentions, this has only helped him.

What are you kids bitching about losing an crowd? First off they never wanted to vote for him to begin with, and I would be ashamed if such ignorant people got me elected.

I'd hate to burst your bubble, but I think he's way more popular than Romney at this point.
That's all I'll say about that. We're not here to argue about politics.
