I've never understood why it's a crime, honestly. You could argue that it would give pedophiles ideas and make it more likely to nail some kids, but you could argue just as well that if they can see it on the internet all they want them they're less likely to try it in real life.
Though regardless of whether or not it's legal it should definitely qualify as evidence if it's in somebody's internet history and they're charged with child molestation or something.
You look nice today.

It's legal as a STATE law.
But it's still a FEDERAL crime.
See y'all in 30 years.

I understand that a little. It shouldn't be a crime especially considering how it can be accidentally downloaded through malicious software or just by browsing sketchy porn sites.
If they view the content regularly though, then they're supporting the creation of child porn. That's a crime. And how does it make it less likely for them to do it in real life? I can access porn with a click of my mouse but it doesn't make me want sexual relations any less.
Wouldn't hardcore child porn still be illegal, since it's footage of statutory rape?
Guns are pretty much illegal in NYC but if a guy wants to watch little sally get pounded like Omaha beach before the ground assault it's ok?

How so? It's not like child porn is an industry where viewing it makes people money and encourages them to make more.

Well I mean, if a pedophile wants to see some kids naked, he's better off looking at pictures of it on the internet where anyone who'd be hurt by them has already been hurt than for him to go out and molest some kids and take pictures for himself. If you never saw a naked woman and porn didn't exist, wouldn't you just want to get a girl's clothes off even more? Not only is there the sexual factor, there's also the curiosity.

I wonder how many people from the Southern states are now going to flood the airports and Greyhound stations rushing to get to New York.

Well, I guess I know where I'm gonna be jacking off at.
Did you actually read the article? It basically says accidentally finding pornographic content (meaning unintentional viewing or automatic downloading) is not a federal offense.
Distributing and purposefully viewing/saving child porn is still illegal.

That's a good point.

If he's at the point of viewing child porn regularly then he probably already wants to try it in real life. I don't know how it is for anyone else, but after I watch a lot of porn I always think to myself "damn I need to get laid lol". It's kind of hard to let them view it regularly and trust that they'll never, ever want to experience it first hand.
It might make him want it less, but he only has to try it ONCE for a crime to be committed and a child to get hurt. Instead of putting a band-aid on the problem we should focus on rehabilitation of pedophiles before they commit a crime. I'm not saying that we should be fascists and lock up people for viewing immoral material, but we shouldn't let those who view child porn regularly walk around without any regulation.
Yep, because supporting child pornography does not take the reason why child pornography exists in fucking first place!
If people have to seriously stoop this low. They are low-earthed scum.

Their experiences are constituted by their emotions, feelings, psychs, etc. Get the fuck off silverturd.
You're all fucking morons and it's nauseating to know that so many of you are this god damn stupid.
NYC is only a very, very small part of New York State and it was the state Supreme Court that decided that simply viewing child porn online does not violate the state statutes (263.15 and 263.16--still in effect BTW) that clearly states that possession and procurement of it is unlawful.

Irrelevant.

Some people think furries are sick and wrong.
Some people think bronies are sick and wrong.
Some people think fast food is sick and wrong.
Some people think eating meat is sick and wrong.
I could go on and on. "Sick and wrong" is not an argument in the slightest.

Fair enough, though I think that might vary from person to person. I don't usually think about getting myself laid when I watch porn, but it crosses my mind occasionally. I guess at that point it becomes a matter of self control, especially when you know the urge is illegal.

I agree with this, but nobody's gonna step out and admit they're pedophiles. You could always try to find them with site traffic on child porn sites and all that noise but it's not very reliable, what with proxies and the deep web and all that.
