Well, pretty much every melody I have come up with can be transposed onto just the white keys or just the black keys for the most part, so I don't know what that should say about my musical knowledge - if anything at all.

There's nothing wrong with doing that strategy, but if you should use scales that need both black and white keys, you could find yourself in a bit of a situation... But I think it's not that bad because your ears will be able to hear if something is wrong.

But, D# is still good because G#, C#, A#, B, and F# can be rolled into it very nicely - depending on what kind of tune we go for.
also, D# is the key of the Skyrim theme if I'm not mistaken.

It was the key of skyrim... until it took an arrow to the knee...

Don't hurt me...

It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure that Skyrim was in the key of B

I'm a musician, I can do any genre like metal, rock, hip hop (ol skool hip hop only), grunge, punk etc. Just PM me if you're interested. I have plenty of music on my channel.

I can also do any instrument as well. Guitar, drums, synth, bass etc

Searching for the answers. There's a universe inside us all. Every passing lifetime. Important as the last.

So, uh....how is everyone?
I've been having a dry spell in inspiration. Hope this goes away in time for the collab.
...Just sharing this cause I can.

Just keep on working on songs... because even if your having troubles in your inspirations, you shouldn't let that stop you from continuing your work. Just mess around with notes, and see if you can come up with anything... or even try a new genre! The list goes on and on (cliche I know -.-) of stuff you can do to make the dry spell go away.

Yea, I'm most likely going to send it out on the 10th because by then I'll have a good idea of who's in it (even though it's most likely that the people who are in it now is what we have to work with)
So, I'm assuming after the 10th, sign-ups are closed, and we will discuss (and possibly, confirm) the details? Like the key (not sure if it's already chosen lol), the order of the groups etc etc?
I was kinda wondering about all this... Nothing really seems to be in place yet, especially since our threads have been so lifeless the last 2 weeks.

Well, what we know is:

1. D# is the key (Or Eb as Samulis brough up in the discussion thread)

2. The collab is going to be a max of 10 mins long (confirmed by ChimeraNoise)

3. Groups of people (2+) are going to be working on parts (doesn't have to be strict about who works on what)

What we don't know is:

1. The format of the collab (ChimeraNoise is going to be doing the mixing/mastering so the decision really relies on them this time)

2. Time sigs (It's ambigous whether people want to stick to a strict time sig or do their own thing... we'll figure it out as the collab progresses)

But for right now, it's just been the sign-ups point... it's been really hard to make decision since I didn't know how many people would be joining this thing... but it looks like about 30 have signed up, so pretty much a couple of things can happen if it resides at this number:

1. we can have 10 groups working on 30 second parts who are signed into the collab, and 10 group who are signed in, but have a partner outside of the collab also working on their 30 second parts so everything fits nicely within the frame of 10 minutes.

2. We can have people group together (like 4-6 people to craft their part within the collab, and because they would be working on a single part of the collab, they would be allocated extra time (4 people = 1 minute; 6 = 1:30), basically if you wanted more then the 30 second share, you can collaborate in that type of way. However, note that this applies to people who signed into the collab. Those who join outside of the collab will not have time allocated to them (extending from 2+ people)... sort of the perk of joining the collab.

But overall, I'm being pretty flexible about this a long as the main standards are met. I would give more time to the people who didn't join, but it seem unfair to those who did join the collab during the time frame to be given the same kind of treatment to those that didn't. Besides, the punishment isn't terrible anyway lol.

What else do you guys think you would need to know?

That sounds good. I think we should try to stay flexible for tempos and stuff, as it seems if you limit just one aspect, you always can make a really awesome project, but if you limit everything, you run out of ideas. XD

Do we want to do groups in any which way (like, we mail someone and ask if they want to collab?) or will it be more of a "here's a random person to work with for ya so you can try something new and maybe make something really cool or just blow up yer computer trying!"? I actually don't have any clue which would be better; first sounds easier, but second sounds more fun.

Second option does sound fun, but about half of us are teamed up already.

I don't know who's with who off the top of my head; I'm teamed with Yoshiii343, though.

Now we just have to wait for the others to confirm and wait till the 11th, I assume?

Is the 11th when we finally start?

As long as it follow the guidelines (no extra time being allocated to the guest, etc) then both is fine. I'd recommend that you'd find someone to work with so that the part goes along nicely.

Um, I'm going on a class trip tomorrow and will be back only next week. So I might not be available immediately when the collab starts taking team-ups. Hope you understand (and that someone would be willing to team up with me ^^).

Well, the deadline for the end-date is sept 11, so you have plenty of time to find a partner and finish it... If you can't, there's always the next collab.

Also, there's a partner finding thread here if you need it.

Better question is how? How could you be looking for the link if he just made it and the thread was higher up than this thread originally..?

Okay, just to clear up, it's most likely that we'll be using a website that can transfer .WAV files, so try to find a site you can use to upload .WAV files.

Why not just use DropBox? It's the best file sharing/storage site on the internet right now. Everyone that's in the collab can just use a linked folder.
It's unfortunate that the project system's file sharing kinda sucks, like how I couldn't even upload one f'n file.

That's what was suggested to me... I'll probably set one up tomorrow, or sometime next week considering i'm going to be going on a trip soon.

It's really quick. Here's a link: http://db.tt/x8CrTHrc

If that link works we both get 500MB extra storage space

What do you think?

What do you think?

I forgot to state this (completely my fault -.-) but if you want reviews from any member of the collab, make sure to pm them so that others wont have easy access to it.

Other then that, it sound pretty good... but the hat needs some reverb on it (it was too noticeable with how stale the hat sounded in comparison to the rest of the song).

Oh sorry... By the way, we can still improve it, its 70% of chances that we are going to leave it like it is, and we are not planning to leave it like that, and yeah zel, ill take your advice, thanks! ;)
